The 2016 Biocup
Alchimia was lucky to attend the third edition of the Biocup, in Barcelona. This event, organized by the Zebra Verde club, gathers both professionals of the cannabis sector and members of any of the associations participating in the event.
This year's edition took place in Finca Mas Solers, Sant Pere de Ribas, from the 27th to the 29th of May. This former "Gran Casino de Barcelona" is an exceptional spot for an event of this type, with plenty of space for outdoor activities and also to relax and taste the samples entered to the cup.
As its name suggests, the Biocup is aimed at organic cannabis growers, associations and clubs. All the samples entered were tested in a laboratory to verify their purity, and were rated according to appearance, taste, smell and effects.
The samples were divided into 4 categories: Best Indica, Best Sativa, Best Hashish (Kif, dry sieved resin) and Best Solventless Concentrate (Rosin, Bubblehash...). They were rated by a group of professional cannabis connoisseurs like Karulo from BCN Seeds or Julien from TH Seeds, who won the first Biocup back in 2014.
All the entries we could try were of exceptional quality, with amazing resin content and the best flavor of organic crops. Indeed, this type of events are ideal to demonstrate the quality of organic cannabis farming.
Biocup, meeting of professionals and club members
Biocup also represents an ideal opportunity to meet members of the different associations that sponsor the event. All participants could access the cannabis dispensary, where they could get kits with all the samples entered in the cup and other cannabis edibles like brownies, candies, cocoa cream or tinctures.
The commercial booths were placed on the outside of the building. We could visit Pura Cali with their Dabstation, Advanced Nutrients, Koppert and, of course, the guys from Grassroots. We could also enjoy organic foods and drinks. Also, music bands like Bohemios Autorizados played near the chill-out area, where we could also enjoy DJ performances.
A number of conferences were also held during the weekend. Ruben from Biobizz talked about different organic growing systems, Beres discussed the therapeutical applications of organic marijuana, and Daniel Alvarez explained some interesting ways to re-use the nutrient solution of indoor grow rooms.
We also highlight the presence of Nico "The Bee Trainer", who explained his professional activity. Basically, Nico trains bees to make honey from female cannabis plants, and we had the pleasure to share some time and knowledge with him.
We would like all the Zebra Verde crew for such a magnificient event and organisation, a true cannabis party for all aficionados. Also thanks for the free transport from the train station to the event location!
See you next year, folks!
