Top Zeef dry sift extractor

Top Zeef, a device to sieve resin

Top Zeef it is an electrical device for the mechanical extraction of trichomes. Nowadays water hash and BHO - and other resin extracts - are being increasingly used but we must not forget the most used concentrate worldwide, dry sift. Sieving marijuana trichomes is an ancient tradition in many cultures, who enjoy the properties of cannabis and its derivatives for thousands of years.

Here we present the Top Zeef, a device to sieve trichomes in a very simple and effective way. There are different versions and sizes, but we will focus on the small one that offers us a home solution for a premium dry sift hashish.

This device is ideal to be stored in small spaces because of its size. It comes disassembled in a perfectly wrapped box with everything necessary to assemble it in few minutes. Its dimensions are 31 x 19 x 21 cm, with a volume of 6L and a capacity of 4L.

There are two structures: the external one consist of two parts, a black rectangular box with a top opening, easy to open using the plastic tab, and the side parts of the box, where we find the connection plug for the power supply.

Once the box is assembled, put the metallic pieces that will close and fix the parts of the box. Then, fill the sieve drum up to half its capacity, around 150 gr of dried marijuana (2L).

The drum consists of three rods that bind the two sides of the drum with nuts, getting a fixed structure that you will cover with the mesh to sieve the trichome heads.

Once assembled, put the drum inside the box so that it is suspended by two plastic pins at the ends of the drum.

The device is now ready to use so we can proceed to fill it with marijuana buds. The buds can grinded first (better yield, less quality) or not (less yield, better quality). If you don't grind them, and after sieving, you can use the remaining buds for cooking, for example. Always remove any branches that may damage the mesh.

If you use grinded marijuana, you will get more trichomes since the contact surface with the mesh will be greater, and more glands will be sieved (caution, more plant debris will be sieved too). The more intact the bud, the lesser amount of trichomes you will get with the same time of use.

A highly recommended option is to freeze the cannabis buds prior to the extraction. In this way, trichome heads are more easily removed and sieved through the screen, requiring less time and thus getting a cleaner product, free from plant debris.

Once the weed is frozen, remove the plastic cap of the drum and fill it with around 150 grams, then put the cap again and make sure that is tightly closed. You don't want to lose trichomes or particles contaminating the final product!

The next step is to plug the drum so it starts rolling, making the cannabis buds to hit and rub the mesh and thus detaching the trichomes by using simple mechanical and frictional force. These resin glands pass through the mesh holes and fall at the bottom of the extractor, where they will be easily collected with a credit card or something similar.

By having different screens we can separate the trichomes by size and obtain different qualities.

Initially, use the 158 micron mesh to sift the trichomes, but you can also increase or decrease the size with the other meshes: 50, 75, 95, 124 and 185 microns. Depending on the mesh used, you will get more or less resin with more or less psychoactivity.

Once the resin is collected, press it and work it to have the nice appearance of double zero that every hashish lover desires! If necessary, you can use a simple manual resin press.

In case that you want to stored it for a long time, always keep it in a cool, dry and shady place, otherwise your hash can be ruined by oxidation or fungi. You can dry/cure hashish in the same way that you dry and cure your cannabis plants.

So now you can take advantage of the trim of your plants to produce high quality hashish, a trim that would have probably been thrown away after the harvest.

A new range of possibilities appears to hashish lovers, who are able to sieve high amounts of resin within a short time, easily, cleanly and fast! Furthermore, you also have the option to choose between different screen sizes to get different results.

Happy concentrates!
