Alchimiaweb.com presents Rocalba Organic Napoletano Gennarese Cauliflower Seeds, perfect for both vegetable gardens and large pots. This cauliflower produces a heavy, fleshy, light-coloured flower.
Napoletano Gennarese cauliflower seeds, highly resistant to frost
It is a plant belonging to the Cruciferae family (Brassica oleracea) with wide and fleshy leaves that grow from the base to about 50cm high. It needs a cultivation frame of 60-80cm.
The seeds should be germinated in early-mid-summer (May-August), having the flower ready to harvest in autumn-winter (November-February). The seeds are scattered in a seedbed with soil rich in worm humus, perlite and vermiculite. The seeds are covered with 0.5-1cm of soil, with abundant watering and a place with sunlight and about 25ºC.
The first cauliflower sprouts appear after about 8-10 days. In approximately 30-45 days these are ready to be transplanted into open ground in the vegetable garden or into the final pot. It is advisable to use soil with worm humus and compost or cured manure.

It adapts well to all substrates, even to sandy or clayey soil as long as it is provided with nutrients and good drainage conditions preventing waterlogging. The substrate must maintain constant humidity. A gradual sowing of 6-8 plants every 20 days is recommended in order to collect them in batches.
It is highly advisable to install an automatic irrigation system to facilitate the watering process, thus helping to keep the substratum with the optimal water supply thus facilitating a better plant development, particularly during the flowering stage.
After about 5-6 months from transplant, the cauliflower is ready to harvest. The middle flower has to be cut off with a knife at the base. Harvesting is done when the flower has acquired a good volume, a fleshy appearance and a homogeneous broken white colour. It can be enjoyed boiled, baked, or steamed.
