Superaguadulce Broad Bean, a seed with history
This variety of broad bean was born in the area of Seville in 1850, receiving the name of one of the towns where its cultivation is most popular, Aguadulce. In 1873 it was recognized internationally during the Vienna Exposition, and since then it has garnered awards both for its excellent flavor and its resistance.
These seeds come from an improvement made to this variety so that it produces larger pods, up to 35cm long, thus improving the final production of the crop. It is a medium-early variety that can reach heights of more than one meter, between 110 and 125cm.
Cultivation of Broad Bean seeds Superaguadulce
The ideal for this variety is sowing from the beginning of autumn until well into winter, more or less from September to February, with an estimated harvest of about 120 days from the birth of the seedlings.
In case of sowing in the ground, 2-4 seeds will be placed every 30cm, in rows with a separation of about 75cm between each other. The seed should be buried at a depth of between 3 and 5 centimeters, preferably in previously hydrated substrate.
In case of planting in containers or urban gardens, pots with a minimum capacity of 15-20 liters are recommended, with a spongy substrate and to which earthworm humus will be added. Although they are resistant plants, protecting them from frost during the coldest winter nights will help their development.
