Growing regular cannabis seeds indoors

Growing regular cannabis seeds indoors

Growing regular marijuana seeds is easy

Contrary to popular belief, growing regular marijuana seeds (in which we find male and female plants) isn?t more difficult than growing feminized seeds. They are accessible for everyone, also for beginners. Until early 2000, everybody learned to grow marijuana using regular seeds and the selection of female and male plants was just another step of the grow, something fast and simple to realize, such as the germination process or switching the photoperiod.

Smell control in the cannabis grow room

Smell control in the cannabis grow room

Cannabis odour control in indoor cultivation

Cannabis cultivation has more followers every day, be it for the medicinal properties of the cannabinoids or recreational use. As more and more people, as well as associations, choose interior growing methods, there is a clear need for precautions that mask the smell of the plants, especially during budding.

One of the riskiest factors of growing is without doubt the strong odour that is given off by most varieties of marijuana that can alert neighbours or the authorities. Because of this most growers use a system of odour control to either mask or eliminate the smell that comes from interior growing set-ups.

Anti-odour systems for cannabis grow rooms

We can find many anti-odour systems that either camouflage or eliminate the smell of the plants. There is a wide range of products that differ greatly in price and features. What follows is a brief over-view of these products.

How to keep cannabis mother plants

How to keep cannabis mother plants

It has happened to all of us at some time when we planted some seeds and we get unrepeatable marijuana, a specimen that stands out above any other that we have previously cultivated and that we would like to be able to maintain in some way and cultivate again in the future.

In addition to obvious savings in seeds, cultivating clones or cuttings gives us the opportunity to always enjoy the same flavor and identical effect, since we will always be working with the same genetics. In this article, we will tell you how to maintain mother plants to have a safe and reliable supply of clones.

Growing cannabis in small spaces

Growing cannabis in small spaces

Marijuana crops in small spaces

Lots of people can't grow marijuana at home because they don't have enough space to do it. In this way, growers must be more creative when planning their grows, since, as we'll see, any corner of our house can be used to grow cannabis for our own supply if we use the correct lighting system: CFL's, LED panels, HPS lamps, LEC CMH lighting kits...

How to store cannabis seeds

How to store cannabis seeds

Storing cannabis seeds

Since they are living organisms, cannabis seeds must be stored under certain temperature and humidity conditions, otherwise they gradually lose their germination potential, what may cause the germination process to take up to 6-7 days. In worst cases, seeds don't even germinate, when they should have done it within the first 48-72 hours since we started the germination process.

pH and cannabis

pH and cannabis

When you start growing cannabis, one of the first things you learn is the importance of the pH of both the substrate you are going to use and the irrigation water, especially if you are growing in coconut fiber or other hydroponic media. And, to achieve the best results, every detail counts, and the pH of the growing medium (and, of course, the irrigation water or nutrient solution) is one of the most critical factors for the success of the crop. From root development to nutrient absorption, pH balance plays a critical role in every stage of your plant's life cycle.

In this article, we'll explore in depth the importance of maintaining proper pH in your growing medium, from how it affects plant growth and health to how you can effectively measure and adjust it. Get ready to delve into the world of pH and discover how you can optimize your crops, maximizing the yields of your plants while avoiding possible problems of nutrient deficiencies or blockages.

Growing cannabis cuttings

Growing cannabis cuttings

Propagation of cannabis by cuttings

Marijuana or Cannabis Sativa is a perfect species for asexual propagation (i.e. propagation via cuttings). To clone your favorite cannabis plant you need the following basic material:

  • A small propagator (heated, if possible)
  • Sterilized scissors for cloning, properly sharpened (shaving razors or surgical knives/scalpels can also be used)
  • Rooting hormones, like ClonFix or Clonex
  • Substrate for the cuttings (jiffy peat moss pellets, rock wool, soil...)
  • A small source of white/blue light (fluorescent type, LED...)
  • And, of course, a mother plant from which you will take the cuttings

The temperature must be between 18°C and 22°C and the relative humidity must be above 90% for the cuttings to root, what can be easily achieved if heated mini-greenhouses are used.

Growing marijuana with energy saving lamps

Growing marijuana with energy saving lamps
Marijuana grown with a 200 W energy saving source.

We started this crop for this post in order to show you if growing marijuana with energy saving bulbs is possible. In fact, we were aware of the possibilities of this type of lighting used in the flowering phase from the experience of our customers and friends, who had told us about using CFL lamps for the entire cycle of the plants. Our goal was, then, to prove it and experience first hand this type of growing.

Ventilation for marijuana grow rooms

Ventilation for marijuana grow rooms

How to correctly vent a cannabis indoor growing space?

Just like the lighting system or the nutrient solution, a correct ventilation is one of the most important parameters to take into account when growing marijuana indoors. A proper air ventilation allows the plants to perform all the needed gas exchanges, along with evacuating the heat produced by the lamps, achieving a better climate control and thus growing stronger plants.

The ventilation systems normally used are composed of, at least,  two or three complementary elements: the air extractor, an interior fan that moves the air of the growing space and, in most cases, an intractor fan.
