Information on Frisian Dew

Now available in Alchimia's catalog are the feminized seeds of Frisian Dew, one of the most established outdoor varieties in the Dutch Passion catalog. Frisian Dew has been developed in the Netherlands, this hybrid genetic combines a majestic stature with uncommon robustness, making it a benchmark option for any grower seeking extraordinary yields in garden or greenhouse.

Classic genetics

Frisian Dew is the result of crossing Super Skunk and Purple Star, two genetics that Dutch Passion has worked on for generations until achieving exceptional stability. From this cross comes a balanced hybrid indica/sativa 50/50 plant, where the cerebral energy of sativa and the structural solidity of indica merge harmoniously.

One of its most striking features is the phenotypic expression: approximately half of the plants develop purple hues in the upper buds, while the rest produce green or completely purple phenotypes, providing a visual diversity that makes it unmistakable. Its competitive track record endorses its quality: 1st place at the Highlife Cup 2008 and 3rd place at the Homegrown Cup 2018.

Cultivation: giant designed for outdoors

Dutch Passion has specifically developed Frisian Dew for outdoor and greenhouse cultivation, an environment where it displays its full potential. Under favorable conditions it can reach between 3 and 4 meters in height, so it's recommended to apply training techniques such as LST, supercropping, topping, fimming or trellising when available space is limited. Flowering completes in about 8 weeks, with harvest scheduled for early to mid-October in the northern hemisphere; in greenhouse it's possible to advance harvest by one or two weeks.

Its resistance to adverse conditions such as cold, humidity, heat or drought is one of its greatest assets, along with notable tolerance to mold and fungal diseases. Production is XXL category, with yields that can reach up to 800 g per plant under optimal conditions. Organic cultivation is especially recommended to enhance its aromatic profile. Considered suitable for beginners, it doesn't require complex nutritional schemes and responds generously even in inexperienced hands.

Aromas, flavors and effects

The organoleptic profile of Frisian Dew is as recognizable as it is attractive. The dominant aromas combine forest berries and blackberries with hints of citrus, pine and lavender, on an earthy base with a herbal touch inherited from its Skunk roots. Purple phenotypes tend to express more fruity and floral notes, while green ones lean toward a more earthy and herbal profile. On the palate, the flavor is fruity-fresh, with prominence of forest berries and citrus, accompanied by notes of pine and lavender; some phenotypes add an unexpected hint of cinnamon that enriches the experience.

The effect of Frisian Dew faithfully reflects its balanced nature. Its moderate use offers an euphoric, creative and uplifting high, ideal for social activities or moments of inspiration throughout the day. As the dose increases, body relaxation gains prominence and can lead to a more sedative state, perfect for rest at the end of the day. The ability to modulate the effect according to the harvest point makes this variety a versatile companion for different consumer profiles.

Daniel Dumont

I live on the east coast of canada and I'm currently researching strains that will grow in higher humidity climates so I can avoid potential mildew/mold problems, my average outdoor RH is around 65%. I live right next to the ocean so humidity is a factor. What would you recommend and what should I look for to determine if a strain is better in higher humidity climates?

Hi Daniel,

Broadly speaking, it'd be better to avoid Indicas with ultra-compact buds since they're more prone to developing moulds. Here you have our list of mould-resistant strains. Hope this helps!

Best!
