THC is the acronym for TetraHydroCannabinol. It is the main cannabinoid responsible for the effects produced by cannabis plants. It is secreted by the resin glands, the trichomes. Its concentration level has a direct impact on the psychoactive properties of the flowers and resin.
THC therapeutic use
This cannabis active ingredient, besides its psychotropic effects, also has therapeutic properties. Its beneficial action on various symptoms has led to this plant and its derivatives being officially used in therapeutic treatments in many countries, such as the United States and Canada.
Cannabis is used by many patients for its positive effects in the treatment of diseases and different symptoms such as:
- Tourette's syndrome (spasm reduction)
- Relieve nausea and vomiting
- Stimulate the appetite
- Pain relief (especially chronic and neuropathic pain)
At Alchimia we offer a selection of regular and feminised varieties with a THC level of more than 25%. These are varieties considered extremely powerful. Average THC levels in modern varieties vary between 15 and 20%, and they are already considered to be THC-rich.
High THC level, maximum power
THC acts in synergy with other cannabinoids such as CBD or THCV and with the terpenes. THC is not solely responsible for the cannabis effects, but its high concentration is still a good indicator of a variety's potency.
