Today I'm going to tell you about the new technology in lamps for cannabis cultivation. We’re talking about LEC or CMH lighting, like the 315W SUNBURST.
I’m wearing gloves because we’re working with light bulbs and it’s not a good idea to touch them with our bare hands. Until now, in cannabis cultivation we’ve used 2 types of light bulbs, depending on which phase of cultivation we were in, for growth we used metal halide lamps that give us a more bluish light, which is this, and when we switched to flowering we used sodium bulbs, which give us a redder light.
With LEC systems we have it all in a single unit. In addition, we can find single and double ended bulbs, with different wattage and which can, depending on the bulb, give us different light spectrums.
This is the 315W SUNBURST LEC. A small, compact unit that incorporates a reflector with a high refractive index of about 95% and the electronic ballast. Simply connect it and go.
What other advantages does this lamp offer? Apart from being small and compact, it emits very little heat and incorporates a type of light bulb, LEC, as we already said, which will last much longer than standard bulbs, as well as covering a broad light spectrum, from infrared to ultraviolet, which we can use for all phases of cultivation.
And for the most expert growers, there are specific bulbs that give us the perfect spectrum for flowering or growth, at 4,200 and 3,100ºK, which is what we’re used to working with in previous grows.
What other advantages? Above all the cost factor: This equipment consumes 315w and gives a performance very similar or very close to a classic 600w lamp, meaning almost half the consumption gets us the same results as before.
