currently growing Forbidden Fruit x Watermelon Zkittlez outdoors in San Jose< Ca. Plants are doing get so far. My question is do I wait to see some amber colored trichomes or can I harvest with just cloudy trichomes. I have heard that certain strains really do not have to get 30% or so amber and can be harvested when most of the trichomes are milky/cloudy ? The other thing that I have read is that it is best to harvest cannabis on the waning moon phase ?
Thank you

Hi and thanks for your comment and questions. When we harvest according to trichome ripeness, a great deal depends on personal taste, so if you want a more narcotic, heavy stone then you should leave harvesting until more trichomes are amber coloured. On the other hand, harvesting with only cloudy trichomes will give a more active and cerebral high, as a general rule. Of course, the effect will be modulated by the terpenes present, so these generalisations are just that! Personally I like to harvst with very few amber trichomes, if any, as I believe that once they start oxidising they are past their peak maturity and are beginning to deteriorate.
It's widely accepted that the best time to harvest is with the full moon, and if possible with an ascending moon. Waning moon s great for pruning or transplanting. I hope that helps.
Best wishes and happy growing!
