Marmande tomato, French early harvest RAF variety
This famous tomato variety has its origins in the Aquitaine region, specifically in the town of Marmande (eastern Garonne).
Marmande tomato is a beefsteak variety or indeterminate RAF type. Its size can exceed 2m in height under good conditions if no apical pruning is performed. Fruit production is continuous throughout the season. Marmande tomato provides the first tomatoes in June in warm climates provided that germination is done in the seedbed in early spring. This plant is one of the earliest indeterminate varieties (beefsteak). Tutors or stakes are required to properly cultivate them due to its structure.
Marmande tomato, sweet, juicy and fruity with tomatoes around 150-190g
Marmande tomato fruits are round, flat and ribbed, deep red in colour depending on the harvest time. Tomatoes from this variety originally from France are sweet, juicy and fruity. Marmande tomatoes can weigh up to 190g even at lower temperatures than those recommended.
Marmande tomato, ideal for salads, preserves and juices
The fruits produced from organic seeds are ideal for raw consumption (perfect for salads), preserves and juices. A tomato keeps well after harvest and responds well to storage, this characteristic makes it very suitable and recommended for commercial farms.
Marmande tomato, resistant to fusarium
Marmande tomato requires fertile soils rich in organic matter, however under good conditions of direct sun and warm temperatures it does perform well in poorer soils. It can be cultivated outdoors and in greenhouses. It is very resistant to fusarium.
