Chemdog: A true legend born at a concert
The Chemdog story, as we know it, begins in June 1991 at a Grateful Dead concert at Indiana's Deer Creek Amphitheater. In the parking lot, a pair of weed dealers from Colorado sold an ounce of very high-quality cannabis for $500 to a guy from Massachusetts who called himself "Chemdog." They exchanged contact information that evening and, at a later date, agreed to send Chemdog another two ounces.
One of those ounces was completely seedless, but in the other, Chemdog found 13 seeds in the flowers, evidently the result of accidental pollination with an unknown male or, most likely, a stressed female that produced a male flower. Inspired by the high quality of the flowers, he soon germinated 4 of these seeds, giving him 3 females and one male. The male was quickly eliminated from the crop, but these three female plants are what are now known as Chemdog '91, Chem Sister, and Chemdog D.
