Green Haze 19 A5: Green Haze #19 x A5 Haze

Selected from the Oldtimer's Haze, a pure Haze line maintained for decades, the Green Haze #19 mother of this hybrid strongly dominates the cross, contributing her tropical sativa personality in terms of growth structure, flowering times and psychoactive effects.

The highly stable Oldtimer's Haze genetics also confer great uniformity on this hybrid, reinforcing the pure Haze expression and reducing the influence of Afghan Indica from the NL5 component of A5 Haze so much as to be almost unnoticeable.

The "male" side of this feminised hybrid is the almost mythical A5 Haze, a Dutch classic created and selected by Nevil Schoenmakers by crossing Northern Lights #5 with his Original Haze "A" male. This selection had a huge impact on the Dutch coffeeshop scene but, since unfortunately the "A" male was lost relatively soon afterwards, it was never able to be reproduced in seed form.

The clone that Nevil selected was, however, carefully maintained and closely held among a small group of growers from southern Holland, eventually finding its way into the hands of a select few breeders, including Karma Genetics and ACE Seeds, so that growers will once again be able to appreciate the outstanding qualities of this queen among Hazes. In this hybrid, the A5 Haze contributes extra vigour and yield, alongside its distinctive aroma of Colombian Haze.

Green Haze 19 A5 Cannabis Strain: a treat for fans of Haze genetics

The result of this near-pure Haze cross is a plant with a slender, flexible and well-branched structure with narrow leaves and good internode distance. Its vigour and structure make Green Haze 19 A5 perfect for SCROG growing or for the application of pruning and training techniques to increase yields. For the best results, use low to medium levels of fertiliser throughout the plants' lifecycle.

For indoor cultivation, the breeder recommends a flowering photoperiod of 11 hours light with 13 hours darkness and to switch the plants to bloom just 15 days after germination, to avoid them getting too large for the grow space. Green Haze 19 A5 can be grown outdoors, ideally in subtropical and tropical climates but it can give good results in warm coastal climates or at latitudes up to 40ºN in areas with a mild autumn.

The flowering period is long, needing 13-16 weeks, depending on the phenotype. This long flowering time is compensated for by good flower yields, with very few losses due to fungal pathogens, thanks to the high genetic resistance of this variety to botrytis-type mould attack and insect pests.

Green Haze 19 A5 strain, terpenes and effect

The terpene profile of Green Haze 19 A5 gives aromas of ripe mango, seasoned wood and incense, with a touch of spicy, metallic notes on a unique background of meat and rotten flowers inherited from the A5 Haze. According to lab analysis, the dominant terpene in this cross is beta-myrcene, with moderate amounts of trans ocimene and alpha pinene. THC levels have been tested at 15%, with 1.6% CBG and no detectable CBD. The effects are very cerebral and clean, increasing sensory awareness and rising to a powerful euphoric high, with a warm and expansive sensation.
