Rocalba organic lavender cultivation
Lavender is a plant which appreciates well-drained soils as it cannot withstand excess humidity. So it adapts perfectly to dry and stony terrains, needing plenty of sunshine and a warm place to thrive.
Sowing is usually done from April to July for a potted cultivation, then the following spring at the earliest the young plants can be transplanted, once the frost risk has gone away.
The plants should be placed at a distance of 40cm for a perfect development. It is a perennial plant and needs several years to settle well. Lavender blooms from June to October with a perennial foliage that decorates the garden all year round.
In addition to its decorative appearance and the floral aroma it diffuses in the garden, lavender is a highly valued melliferous plant used by bees.
Lavender can be used for cooking, in aromatherapy or simply to perfume a cupboard or a room, simply by using its dried flowers.
