Alchimia presents Kokopelli Bangladeshi Long Aubergine, and exceptional variety originally from Bangladesh. It is noted for its high productivity and beauty of its fruits. They are cylindrical with an elegant violet-grey colour and dark violet stripes, completely devoid of bitterness, which provides a pleasant taste experience.

It is recommended to start by sowing in pots or in a nursery. Seedlings should be held at a temperature of about 24°C, under a well-lit shelter for about 10 weeks before transplanting into open ground. Once the plants present 2-3 leaves, they can be transplanted into individual pots if necessary, or place them in a nursery. After the last frost, it is advisable to transplant the entire root ball, burying the stem up to the first leaves, about 50 cm apart in all directions. To improve germination, first place the seeds in the refrigerator for a week, at a temperature of about 4-5°C.

Aubergine cultivation requires full sun exposure to promote optimal growth. In regions with colder climates, they are best cultivated under cover, especially in a greenhouse. These plants have considerable water requirements, so it is essential to ensure regular watering.

Indoor sowing period generally extends from February to April, while harvesting can take place from July to October, depending on local climatic conditions. The plants can be grown in open ground, in a greenhouse or in a pot, which offers great flexibility. These aubergines present an elongated shape and a deep purple colour. They usually reach a size of 15-20cm and are ideal for many culinary preparations.
