Organic Saxa round red radish, undemanding and easy to cultivate
Saxa round red radish (Raphanus sativus) is an annual or biennial herbaceous plant belonging to the Brassicaceae family. It is native to the eastern Mediterranean area and Eurasia, although it is now cultivated practically all over the world.
It is remarkable for its stems up to 1m, with not very abundant ramification. It develops long leaves that grow from the stem base, and in spring produces small pinkish flowers at the tips. The roots form fleshy, spherical and intense red bulbs, with a sweet and spicy aroma.
The seeds can be germinated all year round in regions with a temperate climate, being recommended between March and November. The seed is buried 1cm in open ground (10cm distance between plants in order to prevent thinning) or in the final pot (1L soil and worm humus should be enough). Then water and moisten the substrate.

This plant does well in nutrient-poor soils. It is very easy to grow and provides good results with very little work as long as it has moderate but constant humidity to soak into the substrate and not waterlog it.
The use of an automatic drip irrigation system can greatly facilitate this task, with the radishes growing virtually on their own. It has a very short cycle so you can enjoy a harvest per month. The consumer can eat radishes all season long if new seeds are sown every 15 days.
Seedlings sprout in about 10 days after sowing, and in about 30 days the radishes are ready to harvest. Waiting longer can cause them to crack and spoil. They offer an intense, fresh, and sweet to spicy aroma, making them ideal as an appetizer or to complement salads.
