Rocalba organic Pumpkin Musquée de Provence seeds, plants up to 60cm high
This pumpkin (Cucurbita Moschata) variety is originally from Peru and New Mexico where it has been cultivated since 3000 BC. It is now widely consumed in the French Provence, for ornamental use and for its intense sweet chestnut aroma.
It should be germinated in March-April when the risk of frost ceases. It can also be germinated from January in a greenhouse or indoors, provided with sunlight and a temperature of about 20°C. These conditions accelerate its development having the seedlings ready when the good weather arrives.
The best way to germinate the seeds is to place 2-3 in a seedbed or in a 10-12cm deep pot. The soil should be of good quality, with sufficient worm humus and compost or dry manure. The seeds should be placed horizontally, covered with a maximum of 0.5cm of uncompacted soil and watered abundantly. The seeds should be left for 20-30 days before being transplanted.

Planted in a vegetable garden, it needs a planting frame of 1x2m, as it grows up to 60cm high and takes up a lot of space. It offers an abundant pumpkin production, which can reach a weight of 7-8kg (or even more). They are notable for a bright orange colour, with a rounded and flattened ribbed shape.
This plant needs a lot of water but controlling substrate waterlogging. It is ideal to use an automatic irrigation system in our cultivation.
They mature in September-October, acquiring an intense dark orange colour. The pulp has bright tones with an intense sweet chestnut aroma. By providing a good temperature and proper care we will obtain absolutely spectacular pumpkins.
