Alchimia Grow Shop presents Rocalba Russian Tarragon Seeds, an aromatic plant variety that can live up to 10 years. It can be cultivated both in open ground and in a pot.
Rocalba Russian tarragon seeds, bitter and aniseed flavour
Russian tarragon (Artemisa dracunculus) also called estragon belongs to the Asteraceae family and is native to Eurasia and North America. It is an herbaceous, rhizomatous perennial plant that reaches up to 60cm tall and takes the appearance of a shrub with lance-like leaves.
It produces upright, woody, glabrous stems free of hairs or trichomes covering it. It develops a strong and tortuous root mass. Unlike French tarragon, it can be grown from seed, germinating in spring or summer using a mixture of soil enriched with worm humus or compost.
A seedbed can be used also in direct sowing using a planting frame of about 30 - 60cm x 30-50cm, placing the seeds at a maximum depth of 0.5cm. Water frequently and moderately to maintain the substrate moist. With plenty of direct sunlight, the first sprouts emerge after about 2-3 weeks.

The soil should be light in texture, with a good drainage capacity. It is not important if it is stony as long as the pH is around 6-7.5. In winter it is essential to prevent waterlogging, so it is highly recommended to use an automatic irrigation system or to be cautious with irrigation.
