Cooking with cannabis encompasses a wide range of different preparations, from sweet to salty foods, in solid or liquid form. Lately, and despite both the difficulty of cooking with extracts like BHO and the current legislation in many places around the planet, the efforts of cannabis and cooking lovers have flourished in a large number of recipes. Without a doubt (munchies!) one of the favourite cannabis edibles among smokers are Space Cakes, which are made with cannabis butter and are easy to cook, tasty and rich in cannabinoids.
As we say, this is a very easy cake to prepare, always being a sure bet. Next, we detail a few different recipes to cook these delicious cannabis cakes.
Chocolate Space Cake recipe
Cannabis cake with chocolate is a true, undisputed classic: on the one hand, chocolate is one of the favourite foods of many gourmets, while its intense flavour helps to mask the - sometimes - unpleasant, vegetable taste of cannabis butter.
Ingredients:
- 200g black chocolate
- 125g cannabis butter
- 3 eggs
- 60g flour
- 125 sugar
- Optionally, if you like it you can add a teaspoon of ground cinnamon
Preparation:
Pre-heat your oven to 180ºC. Melt the butter and the chocolate at bain marie or microwave. Mix the sugar and the eggs in another bowl and stir until you get a homogeneous mix. Then, add the chocolate and the butter and stir. Gradually add the flour and stir until properly mixed. At this point you can add the ground cinnamon if you wish. Pour the mix into a baking mould smeared with some butter and bake for 20 minutes. If you want a less potent cake (with lower cannabinoid content) simply use 50% cannabis butter and 50% normal butter (lactose intolerants can use any vegetable margarine).
How to cook a cannabis cake in a hurry
Do you have some late minute guests? An improvised picnic perhaps? No problem! Here you have a recipe to cook a cannabis cake in no time. Remember that you can have some cannabis butter stored in your freezer for these occasions.
Ingredients:
- 225g flour
- 200g sugar
- 10cl cannabis olive oil (or 100g cannabis butter)
- 4 eggs
- 1 sachet of baking powder
- A tablespoon of orange blossom water, rum, vanilla, etc.
Preparation:
Pre-heat your oven at 180ºC. Beat the eggs in a bowl and mix them with the sugar and the oil/butter. Next, add the flour, the baking powder and the chosen aroma and stir until getting a uniform mix. Once mixed, pour into a baking mould smeared with butter and bake for 30-40 minutes. You're done!
Vegan Space Cake recipe
Here you have another useful recipe, especially for those who don't want to eat animal products. In this case, we won't use any eggs or butter, but bananas. Of course, you can always add some dry fruits, chocolate chips, ground coconut...it's all up to you and your personal taste!
Ingredients:
- A banana
- A soy yogurt
- 100g sugar
- 50g cannabis coconut oil
- 10g baking powder
- 180g flour
- Optionally, you can add dry fruits, chocolate, ground coconut, ground lemon peels, etc.
Preparation:
Pre-heat your oven at 200ºC. Mash the banana in a bowl (a fork works great) until getting a uniform puree. Next, add the remaining ingredients (yougurt, sugar, oil, baking powder), stir, and finally add the flour, the dry fruits and the chocolate. When you have a homogeneous mix, pour it into a baking mould and bake for 20-25 minutes.
Variations of the Space Cake
As you can see, you have countless possibilities. We present you here a few more recipes cooked with cannabis butter. We'll start by one of the most famous cannabis sweets...the Dawamesk cake!
This legendary dessert is inspired on the Parisian Club des Haschischins. It is a cake filled with a dough made with pistachio nuts, almonds, honey and cannabis butter, which gives this recipe its name. While it is a bit time-consuming, it'll delight you with its awesome flavour and mellow texture.
Here you'll find our recipe to prepare the Dawamesk Cake.
Another spectacular recipe are black chocolate muffins with sugar-preserved cherries and cannabis butter. You can cover the muffin with a Space Cookie - cannabis cookie - to make it even more original, making it look like a magic mushroom.
Here you have the recipe for this amazing dessert, cannabis chocolate muffins with Space Cookies.
Finally, we recommend you this recipe to prepare Space Cookies, one of the favourite sweets for many cannabis users. They are easy to prepare and carry, and you don't need baking moulds or any knife to slice it. You can use any type of cannabis butter or oil to prepare them.
As you can see, there are hundreds of cannabis recipes available. Keep in mind that the intense effect induced by these edibles may be too potent for some persons (it'll also depend on the potency of your butter/oil). Please use them responsibly!
The effects of ingested cannabis last longer and take longer to appear than when smoked or vaped, so we recommend you to eat a small piece and wait for an hour to check if you want to eat more. In this way you can avoid "bad trips".
Lastly, also remember to keep cannabis edibles out the reach of children, pets or persons who might think they're "normal" sweets. Use labels or a cannabis leaf to indicate its ingredients!
Have a nice meal!
