A psychedelic revival: Psilocybin approved in Germany
In July 2025, Germany became the first EU country to authorize a compassionate use program for psilocybin for patients with drug-resistant depression. Led by the Central Institute of Mental Health (ZI Mannheim) and the OVID Clinic in Berlin, the program allows for the administration of controlled doses of the compound, always in rigorous clinical settings and with psychotherapeutic support.
