Information on Shaved Ice
Shaved Ice is a feminized strain from LIT Farms that crosses two genetics very present in the current Californian scene: Sharpiez and Lemon Cherry Gelato. It presents itself as a balanced hybrid, with a sweet profile and a chemical undertone.
Its THC content is high, around 26%, with low CBD levels. The effect combines an uplifting start with a progressive body relaxation, the type of hybrid that is equally enjoyable in mid-afternoon as when night falls.
History of Shaved Ice and LIT Farms
LIT Farms takes its name from Lost In Translation, an idea that summarizes its philosophy. Quality genetics shouldn't lose their essence when reproduced.
Behind LIT Farms is Ray Schiavone, the grower from Tahoe Hydroponics. After sweeping all the main categories at the 2016 Jack Herer Cup, he decided to found his own breeding project from facilities in Nevada.
Shaved Ice is part of the Sharpiez Drop, a batch of releases that uses Sharpiez as the centerpiece. The name alludes to shaved ice with syrup, a dessert that fits with the sweet and icy profile that the genetics conveys.
Genetics: a hybrid between chemical and dessert
The breeder's sheet classifies it as indica/sativa. Both parents share a modern indica base, which translates into plants of medium height and dense flowers.
The Sharpiez x Lemon Cherry Gelato cross seeks to add the chemical load and resin of the former to the fruity sweetness of the latter. The plants develop compact buds, with an abundant trichome coverage inherited from both lines.
Sharpiez
Sharpiez is a creation from LIT Farms itself, born from Permanent Marker x Zoap. It's described as an indica-leaning hybrid, around 60/40, with THC typically in the mid-high 20% range and a flowering period of 56 to 63 days.
From Permanent Marker it inherits an ink aroma, chemical with gas nuances. Zoap contributes floral and soapy candy-like notes. In cultivation it stands out for its medium stature, its dense and frosty colas and a medium production accompanied by lots of resin.
Lemon Cherry Gelato
Lemon Cherry Gelato is an indica-dominant hybrid, around 60/40. It's attributed to Sunset Sherbet x Girl Scout Cookies, and has become one of the genetics most associated with LIT Farms.
Its profile revolves around sour lemon, cherry and red fruits, with a creamy background and some earthy touches. It forms very dense buds, often with green and purple tones, orange pistils and a very pronounced layer of trichomes.
Growing Shaved Ice
Shaved Ice is a feminized photoperiod suitable for indoor and outdoor. Indoors it completes flowering in about 56 to 70 days, that is, between 8 and 10 weeks from the switch to 12/12.
The plant reaches a medium height, manageable in a tent or room, and its production is at a moderate level. It yields better with a uniform canopy and a consistent feeding schedule, which take good advantage of its dense cola structure.
Lemon Cherry Gelato, one of its parents, responds well to techniques like SCROG or LST to distribute light among several tops. With such compact buds it's advisable to monitor humidity during flowering, keeping it below 50%.
LIT Farms genetics can be grown with little experience, but yield their best version in a controlled environment. Good ventilation and a stable environment help the strain express its resin and aromatic profile to the fullest.
Flavor, aroma and effect
Shaved Ice offers a sweet and candy-like profile, consistent with its name. Its terpene profile is supported by a trio of limonene, caryophyllene and linalool, the same that leads Sharpiez's profile.
By inheritance from Lemon Cherry Gelato you can expect notes of lemon and cherry, with red fruits and a creamy background. Sharpiez can contribute a chemical and floral counterpoint, with some pepper and diesel in the aftertaste before a clean finish.
Limonene is associated with the citrus freshness of the bouquet and caryophyllene with its spicy nuances. Linalool softens the ensemble with a floral touch that rounds out the frozen dessert sensation.
The effect responds to that of a balanced hybrid. Sharpiez is described with a fast start, euphoric and giggly, and Lemon Cherry Gelato combines an uplifting and relaxing side.
With a high THC, Shaved Ice calls for moderate consumption, especially for those not accustomed to potent varieties. It's an option designed for those seeking sweet flavor and potency without giving up a balanced effect.
