Did you know...? S.A.D., one of the three founding varieties, is an S1 obtained from an elite clone of Black Domina known as Barraka '98. Twenty years later it remains in the catalog, accumulates around fifteen awards and has served as a basis for autoflowering, Fast Version and CBD versions, making it one of the longest-lasting genetics of the bank.
Sweet Seeds lines
The Sweet Seeds catalog is organized into several families that respond to different cultivation needs. All share the same selection philosophy, focused on stable, resinous plants with very defined aromatic profiles. Knowing each line helps to choose the most suitable variety according to space, climate and available time.
Feminized photoperiod
This is the line with which the bank was born and where its most award-winning varieties are found. Here are classics such as Cream Caramel, Green Poison, Black Jack or S.A.D. S1, along with more recent additions based on genetics of American origin such as Red Hot Cookies. These are plants designed for those seeking maximum development and controlling the flowering moment with photoperiod, both indoors and outdoors.
F1 Fast Version®
This is probably the most original contribution of Sweet Seeds and the bank itself claims to have been the first in the world to offer this type of genetics. It is obtained by crossing an elite photoperiod clone with a very fast autoflowering line. Since the photoperiod character is dominant, the entire first generation (F1) behaves as a uniform photoperiod plant, but inherits a shorter flowering period.
- Faster flowering: they finish between one and two weeks earlier than their photoperiod parent.
- Short cycles indoors: many varieties are harvested at 6 or 7 weeks after switching to 12/12.
- Hybrid vigor: being F1 hybrids, they show good growth, homogeneity and resistance.
- Advantage outdoors: early harvest helps avoid autumn rains and end-of-season fungi.
Autoflowering and XL Auto
Sweet Seeds began working with autoflowering varieties around 2007 and launched its first commercial varieties in 2009. Since then it has been refining its lines for several generations, until reaching the XL Auto, its largest and most productive autoflowering varieties. These varieties complete flowering in about 8 to 10 weeks, regardless of light hours, and are an interesting option for balconies, terraces or for chaining several harvests a year.
The Red Family
Presented in 2013, it brings together varieties selected for the red, purple and bluish tones that their flowers and leaves acquire during maturation. Among its first references were Red Poison, Black Cream and Dark Devil. It is a line with strong visual appeal that does not renounce aroma or resin production.
In addition to these families, the bank has varieties rich in CBD, designed for those who prefer more balanced cannabinoid profiles. Many of its genetics are available in several versions, so that the same variety can be found as feminized, autoflowering or Fast Version.
Awards and recognition
Throughout its trajectory, Sweet Seeds has accumulated more than 80 awards in competitions in Europe and other countries. A good part of them is concentrated in a few varieties that have become emblems of the bank. As an entity, it has also received the title of best seed bank on several occasions, with recent distinctions at THC Expo (2022 and 2024).
- Cream Caramel: more than 25 awards, the most award-winning variety in the catalog.
- Green Poison: around twenty awards.
- S.A.D. Sweet Afgani Delicious S1: about 15 awards.
- Black Jack: 10 awards.
Quality and genetic control
Sweet Seeds subjects its batches to germination and feminization controls before putting them on sale. According to the bank, the feminization rate is close to 99.9% and the germination rate exceeds 95%. These controls, together with a careful selection of parents, explain the good reputation that its seeds have among domestic and professional growers.
Which line to choose?
The breadth of the catalog allows you to find a suitable variety for almost any situation. As a general guide, each family fits better with a specific type of cultivation:
- Indoor with short cycles: the F1 Fast Version reduce flowering time and electrical consumption.
- Outdoor in humid autumn areas: the Fast Version and autoflowering varieties allow harvesting before the rains.
- Small spaces or several harvests a year: autoflowering varieties, and XL Auto if more production is sought.
- Maximum development and cycle control: classic feminized photoperiod varieties.
- Visual appeal: varieties from The Red Family.
With twenty years of history, Sweet Seeds has managed to combine the conservation of its classics with constant innovation in formats and genetics. Its catalog is a good gateway for beginners and, at the same time, a source of well-tested varieties for the experienced grower. In this category you will find its entire collection so that each grower can find the one that best suits their way of working.
