Today I’m going to show you how to roll a joint…
We’ll learn how to use the Futurola rolling machine which, as you can see, comes in different models, a variety of colours and two sizes, "Normal" or "King Size".
When we get the Futurola, it comes in this handy fabric bag, which is perfect for storing and transporting it. We open it up like this and here we’ve got our Futurola rolling machine. This one here is a "King Size" model, but the "Normal" size, which is a little smaller, works in exactly the same way.
So, in this case, what do we need to make our perfect joint? Well, we’re going to use cardboard roaches, in this case organic ones, we’ll use these tips, and were going to use "king size" organic papers. Of course, we can do the same with "regular size" papers and a torn-off cardboard roach like always. We’ll also use our grinder and the weed that we’ve got in our Tight Vac pot.
The first thing we’re going to do is see how to make a filter tip like this one… we take the roach cards and remove one of them, and what we’re going to do is fold it on itself like an accordion. Starting folding at one end, we fold it back on itself, then the other way and after the 3rd fold we can start to roll, rolling it around itself and forming a cylinder.
The cylinder has come out a bit squashed, but we can give it rounder shape with our fingers. Now we get the "Jilter" tip, that as we can see, has cotton at one end, and at the other end a hole for the cardboard. The process is quite simple really, just put the roach in the tip and now we’re got the filter tip ready to go into the joint.
Now to grind the herb, we’re going to make a pure-weed joint, in this case of Guayita from our seed bank Philosopher Seeds. Let’s grab the grinder, a bit of weed, into the grinder it goes, and we start to grind it up… experience will teach us exactly the right amount of herb to use in each joint with the Futurola, okay?
We’ve got the weed ready now, we’ve put a bit more of it in this corner, because over here is where the filter tip will go. Now we just take the Futurola machine and pour the weed into it… if any falls out, we’ll pick it up, press in a bit, even it out and here where you can see the white line is where we place the filter tip. Press it down again a bit, to make sure the weed is well distributed and now we can close the machine.
We’ll give it a few turns so the weed gets nicely compacted and now we can take the paper, making sure you know where the glue is, it’s on this side, and now we put the paper halfway into the machine. Now we start turning the wheel, trying to keep the paper tensed by pulling it a bit, to make the joint stronger in structure. Keep turning the wheel until we get to where we want to lick the glue. Let’s go… we’ve wet the glue and by turning the wheels a few times to finish it, out comes our little creation.
Now to finish things off, we’re going to moisten the outer side of the glue to make the joint nice and smooth, following the line… and now it’s going to stick perfectly.
2nd step: Press in the end of the joint. Using a tool like this we push down the weed and the twist up the end. We do the same at the end where filter tip is. Now all we have to do is cut off the excess paper, in this case a little bit at each end.
And "voila!"… now we’ve got a superb, first class joint.
