Makanaut descends from Psilocybe tampanensis, a species with a fascinating history. It was found by American mycologist Steven Pollock near Tampa, Florida, in 1977 —hence its epithet "tampanensis"— precisely during the Second International Mycology Congress. Pollock named it the "Philosopher's Stone" for its capacity to awaken deep thoughts. Interestingly, all cultivated specimens in the world descend from that single wild find, which makes this truffle an authentic living lineage of mycological culture. Due to all its historical component, it is one of the most appreciated varieties by collectors.
