The 1:1.5 restrictor saves water, since we only need a little more than two liters of tap water to produce one liter of clean water. Without the restrictor, we would need three liters of tap water to produce only one of clean water (1:2).

If the inlet pressure is 4-6 bars the ratio will be 1:1. If the water is hardness is high, it will calcify the osmosis membrane and more water will be wasted.
