PAX 3 Vaporiser. Tutorial video

Here at Alchimia we’re going to show you how to operate the new PAX 3 portable vaporiser, that we have in its 2 versions: the basic PAX 3 Pack and the PAX 3 Complete kit, for vaporising cannabis flowers. The difference between them is that the PAX 3 "Complete Kit" comes with accessories allowing us to also vaporise BHO-type extractions.

In this video tutorial we explain in detail the characteristics of the PAX 3 and the accessories supplied with the vaporiser.

Today we’re going to see how to use this little marvel of vaporisation called PAX 3.

The PAX 3 comes in 2 versions: the complete kit which is this one, and the basic kit. They’re practically the same, the only difference is that the complete set has a bowl for extractions and a longer mouthpiece, to be able to swap over with the original one.

Here we have the PAX 3, which is practically the same as the PAX 2 in terms of weight, dimensions and the design, this one is chrome, that one wasn’t, and in the other compartment we have, on one side, the long mouthpiece and on the other side, the half-load adapter and here we have a small O-ring that will be used for this extraction bowl, later we will see how how it opens and works.

What else do we have? The typical tool to press down and remove the herb, in the form of a key ring, a very practical case to carry our portable vaporiser, 2 boxes with the maintenance kit (these are basically for cleaning) there are sticks to clean the vaporiser, a brush and here we have also 3 spare screens. And then comes the charger; the charger is a little different from the other vaporisers, this charger has 2 terminals that are placed to these 2 terminals on the vaporiser, it is placed on top of the table and the other side to the USB power adapter or the computer or whatever…

The basic parts of the PAX 3 are the On/Off button that’s up here, together with the mouthpiece, the LED indicators and the lower part the bowl. We see that the suction part, the mouthpiece, is flat but we can also change it for the one that comes in the complete kit, which is a slightly longer nozzle. It’s easy to remove, it’s made of rubber, we put the new one on and we see that it’smuch more practical for the lips.

And on the other side is the bowl, it's a pretty large bowl, it can fit about 0.4 grams of herb. But if we want to vaporise on our own we have this half load adapter, which fits only half (0.2g) and we push it on, and we can vaporise half. Let's prepare a load for the vaporiser...

Grind the weed to a medium coarseness, it doesn’t need to be too fine for the vaporiser, and we load the bowl. We can use the tool if necessary, to press down the weed. Perfect, it's filled and we can put the lid on. We turn it over and start the vaporiser. How? By pressing this button, we see that it vibrates. A purple light goes on, this means that it’s warming up.

It has 4 basic heating modes, how do we access them? Pressing the top button for 2 seconds, it turns orange and each time we press we see modes 1, 2, 3 and 4. Mode 1 is 185ºC, mode 2 195ºC, mode 3 205ºC and mode 4 215ºC. We’ll start with for example 185ºC, we leave it like this and press the vaporiser for 2 seconds, it turns purple, this means that it is heating up. When it has warmed up as we see now, it vibrates a little bit (twice) and turns green.

Let's see how the bowl works for extractions or resins or oils. This is the piece in the complete kit that has a small lid. You will see that this lid also has a rubber O-ring that also comes in the complete replacement kit. If it’s degraded, it can be changed, this is what keeps the extractions bowl (where the extractions go) well sealed.

So we simply use the dabber to get some resin from this silicone bottle, we take a small amount, not too much, and put it in the center of the PAX 3 resin adapter and we close it.

What next? Simply remove the lid of the bowl and insert the resin adapter. You’ll see it sticks out a bit, the design is like that. So it is well closed, there’s no problem, but it seems a little weird, right? No problem, we simply start the vaporiser, we’ll select the temperature, in this case we’ll set it to mode 2, at 195ºC, hold it down so it starts to heat up, the purple means it’s heating and when it turns green and vibrates a bit, that means it’s ready to vaporise, in this case an extraction of BHO that loaded. Perfect, it's already green, we just raise the mouthpiece… Very tasty !!

One of the novelties of the PAX 3 with respect to the PAX 2 (the previous one) is that it has Bluetooth so it can be controlled from a mobile device or a tablet. It’s available in both Android and iOS, and we’ve installed it here and now we’ll run the application. It tells us that the equipment is disconnected, because we’ll start it up and we can see how the screen has changed colour.

This is the application and on the main screen we see the different configuration modes such as the colour of the LEDs or the brightness, in this case of the LEDs, or the high or low vibration mode, or softer. It’s also got some games and other things, but this is the main screen. Let's touch it and here we have an upper menu with 5 submenus, the Standard is the normal menu, to control the device, simply raising or lowering the temperature on the screen.

The Boost menu gives a much more aggressive vaporisation. The Efficiency vaporises at different degrees of temperature to make the most of the herb, and Stealth mode, which is a discreet mode. What this does is lower the brightness of the LEDs, reduce the vibration and also turn off or put on Standby sooner than normal. Usually it goes to Standby after 45 seconds of not using it, in this case it’d be much faster.

And we also have the Flavor setting, which is what PAX considers the best way to vaporise with all the flavour of the concentrates or herbs. You can see that this application is very simple to use and configure.

There you are, you've seen this magnificent vaporiser that you can find both in the basic pack or the complete pack at www.alchimiaweb.com
