Black Salt Feminized by LIT Farms

Information on Black Salt

Black Salt is a feminized variety from LIT Farms that brings together two of the house's lines, Bath Saltz and Sharpiez, in an indica-leaning hybrid. Its aromatic profile combines candied citrus and creamy flowers with a chemical background reminiscent of marker ink.

It comes from parents with a high THC content, placing it in the high potency range of current American genetics. The effect starts with a euphoric and uplifting high and ends in a calm body relaxation, without clouding the mind.

History of Black Salt

The acronym LIT Farms stands for Lost in Translation, an American seed bank that in recent years has built much of its catalog on proprietary lines. Black Salt is part of the Sharpiez release, a collection of crosses that share Sharpiez as their base parent.

The name works almost as a summary of its genealogy. The "salt" refers to Bath Saltz and the "black" evokes the marker ink that gives its name to Sharpiez and its grandmother, Permanent Marker. It's a very characteristic way of naming varieties from the bank, which usually plays with the parents' names to christen their descendants.

Genetics and plant structure

Black Salt is a direct cross of Bath Saltz x Sharpiez resulting in a hybrid leaning toward indica. It brings together on one hand the sweet and fruity side of the Runtz family and, on the other, the chemical and perfumed character of the Permanent Marker line.

In cultivation it develops a compact structure, of medium height and with regular branching. The flowers are dense and heavily frosted, covered with an abundant layer of resin that gives them a shiny appearance.

Bath Saltz

Bath Saltz is one of the best-known varieties from LIT Farms and is usually described as a cross of The Soap x Runtz, although in some references Bubble Bath appears instead of The Soap. It's a feminized with indica dominance that flowers around 65 days.

Its aroma mixes notes of citrus soap, candy and tropical fruit, with a sweet flavor in which cherry also appears. Its THC is around 25% and its effect combines euphoria and mood elevation with progressive relaxation.

Sharpiez

Sharpiez is another cross from the house, obtained from Permanent Marker x Zoap. Its hallmark is a chemical marker aroma with touches of lemon, skunk nuances and flowers with a soapy point.

Much of that character comes from Permanent Marker, created by Seed Junky Genetics in Los Angeles from Biscotti, Sherb Bx and Jealousy. It's a indica-leaning hybrid with THC levels that usually move between 24% and 29%.

Permanent Marker is called that because its smell resembles a freshly opened marker. Seed Junky worked on it between 2019 and 2021 and released it in 2022. The following year Leafly named it strain of the year 2023, after becoming the fastest-growing new variety on dispensary menus in the United States.

Growing Black Salt

Black Salt is a feminized photoperiod suitable for both indoor and outdoor. Indoors, flowering is completed in about 56 to 70 days, that is, between 8 and 10 weeks from the photoperiod change.

Its medium height and orderly growth facilitate management in enclosed spaces. The side branches grow regularly and distribute well in a SCROG net, which helps to standardize the canopy.

Production is at a medium level, compensated by the density of the buds and their abundant resin. It's a variety designed for those seeking flower quality and good final appearance rather than volume.

Flavor and effect

When opening a bud, the candied citrus and some creamy floral notes appear first, supported by a slight hint of marker. With curing, the whole settles into tones of sweet zest and clean flower.

In the mouth these same sensations repeat, with a citrus, floral and somewhat chemical flavor reminiscent of its two parents. In its terpene profile, limonene, linalool and caryophyllene stand out, largely responsible for that balance between freshness, sweetness and spices.

The effect begins with a light and euphoric high that improves mood and loosens the body without clouding the head. Gradually it drifts toward a cheerful calm accompanied by a gentle physical relaxation.

Given the potency of its genetics, it's advisable to take it in moderation at first, especially if you're not used to high THC varieties. It's a suitable option for afternoon or evening, when you feel like disconnecting while maintaining an upbeat mood.
