Information on Gelonade
Gelonade is a feminized photoperiod variety developed by Royal Queen Seeds exclusively for Alchimia's 25th anniversary from two iconic California genetics. With 60% sativa dominance and THC levels close to 24%, this hybrid stands out for its aromatic profile of fresh lemon and creamy notes, its energizing character, and its productivity. Its compact buds, densely covered in trichomes, also make it an interesting option for producing extractions.
Genetics and origin of Gelonade
Gelonade is born from the cross between Lemon Tree and Gelato #41. Lemon Tree provides a citrus and diesel base from its own lineage (Las Vegas Lemon Skunk × Sour Diesel), while Gelato #41 (Mr. Sherbinski's phenotype 41, derived from Sunset Sherbet × Thin Mint Cookies) adds sweetness, creaminess, and the dense bud structure characteristic of the Cookies family.
The result is a balanced variety between sativa dynamism and indica structural solidity, with an internationally recognized genetic profile: 1st place in the Sativa category at the High Times Cannabis Cup 2018 (Amsterdam) and 1st Best Indoor at The Emerald Cup 2021.
Growing Gelonade indoors and outdoors
In indoor cultivation, Gelonade completes its flowering in 7-8 weeks and produces between 500 and 550 g/m². The plant reaches between 100 and 130 cm in height and shows marked hybrid vigor, being able to double its size during the onset of flowering. It responds very well to techniques like SCROG, LST, and topping, which allow you to take full advantage of its productive potential and control stretching. The density of its buds requires good humidity control and adequate ventilation to prevent mold problems. Under low temperature conditions at the end of flowering, the buds can develop attractive purple and lilac tones.
Outdoors, Gelonade matures in early October and can reach between 180 and 220 cm in height, with yields of 550–650 g/plant under favorable conditions. It adapts well to temperate and warm climates, and shows good general resistance to pests and fungi, which facilitates its management in outdoor crops. Its cultivation difficulty is medium: accessible for growers with some experience who know how to manage stretching and keep growing conditions under control.
Aromas, flavors and effects of Gelonade
Gelonade's aromatic profile is dominated by fresh and intense lemon, a direct inheritance from Lemon Tree, which is complemented by creamy and sweet notes from Gelato #41. An earthy background touch and spicy nuances complete a complex and very attractive aroma. The dominant terpenes are limonene, caryophyllene, and myrcene. On the palate, lemon citrus continues to take center stage, accompanied by a caramel and candy-like sweetness, creamy vanilla, and a slightly pungent finish that leaves a lasting impression.
Gelonade's effects begin with a clear and energizing cerebral stimulation, which promotes focus, motivation, and good mood. As the effect progresses, a pleasant and non-sedative physical relaxation is added, making it suitable for daytime use. Its functional character makes it a good choice for creative, social, or productive activities, as well as for relaxed leisure moments throughout the day.
