NeoSpectra is a product developed by the innovative Catalan company Valenveras in collaboration with the Egyptian-US company Si-ware. It is intended to analyse accurately and quickly terpenes and cannabinoids using the NIR technology (near infrared spectroscopy).

The biggest practical difference between Neo Spectra and a chromatography analysis is the speed and portability. The analysis can be done anywhere and at any time, with the bonus that the sample is not spoiled and can be recovered (the infrared does not damage the sample, not suffering any deterioration).

Please note that we have published a post called The Revolution of Portable Terpene and Cannabinoid Analysis presenting the product in a more detailed way, where all the utilities offered by this product can be appreciated.

NeoSpectra by Valenveras, innovation in the analysis of THC, CBD, and terpenes

This product is designed to be as easy to carry around as possible. It comes with a case measuring 36 cm x 28 cm, and the product dimensions are 18 cm x 9 cm x 6 cm with a weight of 1 kg. It also operates independently of the internet.

NIR technology, in which NeoSpectra operates, works by illuminating the sample and analysing the returning light. In this range of light, molecules interact with specific wavelengths, resulting in a unique pattern that resembles a molecular fingerprint. This pattern makes it possible to establish a connection with the total concentration of the molecule present in the sample, thus providing accurate and fast information about its composition. The sample is compared to a large collection of more than 5,000 compiled samples, known as the Pattern Cloud.

NeoSpectra Terpene and Cannabinoid Analyser, 1-year free subscription

The Valenveras portable NIR analyser's use of a chip with a readout range of 1350-2500nm makes a big difference compared to other systems such as Gemmacert or Purlp PRO, which use chips with a readout range of 400-1000 nm.

The wider wavelength range of the Valenveras chip allows for greater penetration and detection of information in the analysed sample. The 1350-2500 nm range is in the near infrared (NIR) region, which is especially useful for the analysis of organic samples and the identification of chemical compounds.

To operate it requires a smartphone application to visualise the results and have full control of the device. It also provides access to the web site, where it is possible to manage the account, control multiple units, consult and export the history, among others. This application works through an annual subscription of €2700. By purchasing this product, you receive one year's subscription free of charge.

Valenveras NeoSpectra instructions for use, please follow these steps:

  • Charge the device battery using the C-type charger included in the kit. The charging process takes approximately 3 hours.
  • Download the NeoSpectra app on your smartphone and pair both devices by following the instructions. A previously registered user account will be required.
  • Calibrate the device using the calibration plate and one of the cuvettes included in the kit. Press the calibration button and wait 10 seconds for a correct calibration. It is recommended to perform a calibration every 20 minutes to ensure the efficiency of the system.
  • Prepare the sample to be analysed using the included grinder and fill the cuvette with the sample, pressing with the sample press.
  • Press the analysis button to start the process. The system will perform 6 cycles of 5-second readings, resulting in a total of 6330 readings for each analysis. After a few seconds, you will see the results on your smartphone screen.
  • All data will be stored both on the smartphone and on the web site, allowing you to access it anytime, anywhere.

In summary, Valenveras NeoSpectra is easy to use. Plug and charge the device, pair it with the app on your smartphone, perform calibration, prepare the sample, and then start the analysis. You'll get results in seconds and can perform multiple analyses in a single day. In addition, the system is expected to be upgraded in the future to expand its analysis range and analyse extracts and concentrates.

Hello. Can this analyzer be used in cbd extract company? So outputs from this analyzer can used for certification of final products (thc under 0,2%), or producer must send final sample to certification laboratory?
