Information on Rainbow Swirl
Rainbow Swirl is a feminized variety from the Californian seed bank Wizard Trees, born from the cross between Cream and RS11. It's a hybrid with a complex aroma, where sweet and creamy notes meet fruity nuances, earthy undertones, and a gassy background.
Its potency reaches very high THC levels, above 20%, with low CBD content. The effect combines an initial euphoric phase with deep and long-lasting body relaxation.
History of Rainbow Swirl and Wizard Trees
Wizard Trees is the project of Scott, a grower from Los Angeles who went from a small home grow to managing hundred-light facilities in just a few years. His philosophy is simple: if a flower isn't beautiful and doesn't have a powerful aroma, it doesn't get his logo, something that shows in the demanding nature of his selections.
Much of his catalog relies on collaboration with DEO Farms, the breeder behind many of the genetics that Wizard Trees cultivates. Rainbow Swirl brings together two pillars of that work: the Rainbow Sherbet line, which produced RS11, and Cream, one of his most recent collaborations with other growers from the California scene.
RS11 didn't come from a meticulous plan, but from a stroke of luck. After a partnership breakup, Scott inherited all the Rainbow Sherbet seeds that DEO Farms had given to his former partner. They germinated a hundred seeds and from there came phenotype #11, which would become the famous RS11, and #54, later known as Studio 54.
The success of that selection also reached the world of extracts: the RS11 live resin made with Doja Pak and FIELD Extracts won second place in the solid hydrocarbon category at the 2022 Emerald Cup.
Genetics of Rainbow Swirl
Rainbow Swirl is an indica/sativa hybrid resulting from crossing Cream x RS11, with a heritage that combines pastry profiles, tropical fruit, and fuel. In some phenotypes, the influence of Grease Monkey is noticeable, contributing almost meaty and savory nuances that are quite unusual.
The plant displays a compact structure and medium height, with dense flowers that accumulate a large amount of trichomes. In the final flowering phase, many specimens develop purple and orange tones, a trait that explains much of its name.
Cream
Cream is a selection from the Wizard Trees circle that, according to its own creator, comes from the cross GM3 x Thin Mint Cookies. GM3 is a phenotype of Grease Monkey from Exotic Genetix, while Thin Mint Cookies contributes a very characteristic resin coating.
This combination explains why Rainbow Swirl shows a layer of trichomes reminiscent of Thin Mint and a creamy aromatic background with gassy touches. It's the part of the cross that provides density, resin, and the earthier character of the profile.
GM3 has sentimental value for Scott: it was the first female plant he found from seed, long before Wizard Trees became a California reference.
RS11
RS11, short for Rainbow Sherbet #11, is the phenotype that Wizard Trees selected from DEO Farms' Rainbow Sherbet line. Its base is Pink Guava, a genetic worked from OZ Kush, combined with the Sherbet family.
It has become one of the most influential varieties in recent years in California thanks to its aroma of tropical fruit and berries with an acidic, spicy, and gassy finish. In Rainbow Swirl it contributes the fruity side, the color, and much of the potency.
Growing Rainbow Swirl
Indoors, Rainbow Swirl needs about 9 weeks of flowering (around 63 days), a standard time for a hybrid of its profile. Its medium height and compact structure make it easy to manage in enclosed spaces without requiring heavy pruning.
Production is rated as medium by the breeder himself, although under optimal conditions indicative figures of up to 650 g/m² have been cited. This figure should be taken as a ceiling rather than a guaranteed reference, as flower quality is the main selling point of this variety.
Outdoors, harvest arrives in early October, making it suitable for climates with dry and mild autumns. Under good sun and with room to develop, yields of up to 1100 g per plant have been mentioned under very favorable conditions.
It's a robust and adaptable plant, but performs best in the hands of growers with some experience. Good control of temperature and humidity at the end of flowering helps protect dense buds and enhance coloration.
Flavor and Effect of Rainbow Swirl
Rainbow Swirl's aroma starts with sweet and creamy notes, close to vanilla and fruit cookies. Behind these appear citrus and tropical nuances inherited from RS11, along with pine touches and a gassy background.
On the palate, the profile becomes more earthy with hints of nuts, a heritage that fits with Cream's Grease Monkey lineage. Among its terpenes, myrcene, limonene, and caryophyllene predominate, distributing the weight between sweet, citrus, and spicy.
The effect is potent and long-lasting. It begins with a euphoric sensation that lifts the mood and gradually gives way to intense body relaxation that becomes heavy and sedating at high doses, making it better suited for the end of the day.
