Information on Sensi Sangria
Sensi Sangria feminized is a variety from Sensi Seeds developed in Hawaii together with Sticky Finger Seeds, with genetics showing around 60% sativa dominance. It combines Hawaiian tropical heritage with the sweetness of the most current dessert indicas.
Its aroma blends mango, pineapple and creamy banana with a skunk background and a fuel finish. It produces potent buds and a hybrid effect that evolves from cerebral to physical, designed for those seeking to relax at the end of the day.
Variety history: the plant that bleeds
The most striking feature of this variety is its ability to produce dark red-colored sap. Approximately half of the specimens manifest it during the vegetative phase, due to a high concentration of anthocyanins, the same pigments that dye other genetics purple.
This sap usually disappears as the stems harden and become woody. Even so, some buds may release a reddish tint when processed or ground, a detail that surprises those growing it for the first time.
In Hawaii the word "Blood" is traditionally used to name varieties that present this red sap, and that's where the surname of Maui True Blood comes from, the genetics that contributes this trait. The name Sensi Sangria plays with the same idea, just like the Spanish punch, whose name derives from "blood", the variety combines an intense red tone with a tropical fruit salad profile.
Sensi Sangria genetics
Sensi Sangria comes from the cross of Tiger's Blood x Banana Kush Cake, with an approximate ratio of 60% sativa and 40% indica. The result is a hybrid that brings together the tropical vigor of the Hawaiian line and the flower density of modern indicas.
The plants grow tall and with a moderately open structure, with spaced internodes that separate the flowering points well. The main stem forms several dense medium-sized buds instead of a single dominant cola, while the lateral branches are loaded with conical flowers along their entire length.
It's worth noting that it shows notable phenotypic variation, especially in final height. The leaves are thick and firm, and the lateral branches stretch slightly during flowering.
Tiger's Blood
Tiger's Blood is a creation of Sticky Finger Seeds, a collective of growers from the north coast of Maui that works its genetics in Hawaii's natural environment. It's part of their Hawaiian Bloodline series and combines Maui True Blood with the Frosted Flakes from Ziplock Seeds.
Maui True Blood is a sativa-dominant variety with pineapple and mango aromas, and in its ancestry are Kipahulu Cut, Blue Dream, Granddaddy Purps and Royal Blood. It's directly responsible for the "bleeding" character that Sensi Sangria has inherited.
Banana Kush Cake
Banana Kush Cake is an original Sensi Seeds variety arising from their 2021 Research project. It's born from the cross of Banana Kush x Wedding Cheesecake and presents an indica dominance close to 65%.
It stands out for its banana aroma with hints of pepper and brown sugar, traits that are clearly recognized in Sensi Sangria. In its analyses it has shown THC levels close to 25%, which explains a good part of its offspring's potency.
Growing Sensi Sangria feminized
Indoors, the plant reaches maturity with a height of 100 to 160 cm and a production of 460 to 650 g/m². Flowering is completed in around 65-70 days, that is, between nine and ten weeks.
Due to its tendency to stretch, in a grow tent it will be practically necessary to top or train the plant. It responds well to lollipopping, SCROG and mainlining, techniques that help distribute light and control height.
Its size makes it unsuitable for SOG with many small plants. It's preferable to grow fewer specimens and give them space to develop their lateral branches.
Outdoors it adapts to temperate and continental climates with a normal warm summer. There it can reach between 175 and 300 cm, with specimens that have reached 400 cm, and produce from 550 to 750 g per plant.
The buds are pointed, dense and golf ball-sized, with light to moderate leaf coverage. The large amount of conical flowers makes manicuring laborious, something to keep in mind when planning the harvest.
Overall, it's a medium difficulty variety that asks for some extra attention in growth control. In return, it offers a very high yield and lots of flexibility.
Outdoors, under the Hawaiian sun, some specimens have exceeded 4 meters in height, a reminder of the strength of its sativa heritage.
Flavor and effect
When entering flowering, the plant gives off an intense tropical aroma of ripe mango, pineapple and acidic papaya. Below appears a marked skunk background, softened by notes of creamy banana and brown sugar.
After drying and curing, the profile gains density and the tropical notes yield prominence. Banana, brown sugar and freshly baked cake take center stage, accompanied by sweet touches of black cherry and grape and a penetrating skunk finish.
On the palate it starts with ripe tropical fruit and a very present acidic point, which gives way to banana and brown sugar. On the exhale, pastry notes appear along with a spicy pepper and fuel finish.
The effect is balanced and progressive, true to its hybrid condition. It begins with a slight cerebral stimulation that soon transforms into an intense and growing physical sensation.
That warm relaxation spreads throughout the body and gains strength over time. The finish is deep and may invite you to stay on the couch, so it fits better in rest moments.
