Information on Mist Maker Ultrasonic Humidifier

Mist Maker Ultrasonic Humidifier: stable humidity in your crop

The Mist Maker Humidifier is an ultrasonic device designed to generate a fine, cool mist that increases the ambient humidity without altering the temperature of the space. It is the ideal tool for maintaining a balanced environment in indoor crops, propagators and grow rooms.

Its ultrasonic system transforms water into micro-droplets by means of high frequency vibration, creating a visible and homogeneous mist. This mist favours foliar absorption, prevents water stress and improves root and leaf development at all stages of the crop.

Available versions: Mist Maker 1 and 5 membranes

The Mist Maker is available in two models that adapt to the dimensions and needs of each crop:

  • Mist Maker 1 membrane: compact, ideal for small cabinets, cuttings and propagators. It generates enough mist for small spaces.
  • Mist Maker 5 membranes: designed for medium-sized grow rooms or centralised humidification systems. It produces a much higher mist flow, ensuring uniform humidity throughout the space.

Both models share the same ultrasonic technology and high-frequency ceramic materials, ensuring quiet, efficient and long-lasting operation.

Recommended water type

The manufacturer recommends using ordinary tap water, as the Mist Maker's level sensor needs a certain electrical conductivity to work properly.

If you use water that is too pure (distilled or 100% osmosis filtered), the sensor may not detect the level properly and the equipment may run dry, causing damage to the membranes. To achieve a perfect balance, the ideal is to mix 80-90 % distilled water + 10-20 % tap water. This reduces limescale, maintains conductivity and extends the lifetime of the device.

Lifetime and maintenance

The lifetime of the Mist Maker depends on water quality, frequency of use and maintenance. The ceramic membranes are wear parts: they become less effective over time due to ultrasonic vibration, but they can be easily cleaned or replaced.

Condition of use Average membrane life Average life of the equipment
Hard tap water, without cleaning 1 - 3 months 6 - 12 months
Mixed water (distilled + tap) with regular cleaning 6 - 12 months or longer 1.5 - 3 years
Ultra pure water (sensor failure) or dry use Risk of immediate failure Possible damage within days

To keep the equipment in optimal condition:

  • Clean membranes every 1-2 weeks with a soft cloth and diluted vinegar.
  • Do not use bleach or abrasive products.
  • Always keep the water level 10-15 mm above the sensor.
  • Turn the unit off before the container is emptied to avoid dry running.

Technical comparison of Mist Maker models

Model No. of membranes Approximate coverage Power Recommended use
Mist Maker 1 membrane 1 Up to 0.5 m² 18 - 20 W Propagators and small cabinets
Mist Maker 5 membranes 5 Up to 2 - 3 m² 80 - 100 W Medium sized grow rooms and automated humidification

Why choose Mist Maker

Mist Maker humidifiers are a benchmark in indoor growing for their reliability, low power consumption and ease of use. They offer an instant and homogeneous mist that maintains constant humidity, helping plants to develop healthily throughout the cycle.

Their compact design, timer compatibility and low maintenance make them a practical solution for both novice growers and those looking for precise environmental control.

Hi, thanks for your comment and question. It is not recommended to use sea water in these units as the salt in the water will clog up the internal components and corrode any metal parts. Best wishes and happy growing.

Alchimia Grow Shop

Hello,

As long as it has water in it, it should not be damaged.

Best!
