Amnesia Lemon is a feminized hybrid with sativa dominance created by Barney's Farm that brings together two classics of European cannabis culture. Its genetics are around 60% sativa and 40% indica, with a bright lemon aroma wrapped in sweet and earthy Skunk notes. THC usually sits around 21 or 22%, and its effect is cerebral and uplifting, with a calm and relaxed finish.

A variety born from an award-winning collaboration

The story of Amnesia Lemon begins with Soma, the Amsterdam breeder responsible for one of the city's most famous Haze strains. After his Amnesia Haze achieved first place at the 2004 High Times Cannabis Cup, Soma handed over his best phenotype to the Barney's Farm labs.

Barney's Farm crossed that selection with Lemon Skunk to obtain a faster Haze that's easier to finish indoors. The result retains the Amnesia character but replaces the marathon flowering of traditional Haze strains with a cycle of about nine weeks.

Genetics and plant structure

Amnesia Lemon is the cross of Amnesia Haze x Lemon Skunk, with a sativa-leaning ratio of approximately 60/40. The Haze side provides potency, spice and a lucid high, while the Skunk side adds sweetness, citrus and the hybrid vigour that shortens flowering.

The plant stays relatively short for a Haze-influenced hybrid, and usually reaches between 100 and 110 cm indoors. It forms long, dense buds and responds well to topping and LST, making it easy to adapt to different setups.

Some growers find two expressions in the same pack, one with a more sativa silhouette and another more compact with an indica tendency. Both share the same lemony base and the vigour that makes this variety a reliable choice.

Amnesia Haze

Amnesia Haze was developed in Amsterdam by Soma, who settled in the city in 1994 and was a close friend of activist Jack Herer. Its lineage combines classic Haze with landrace genetics from regions such as Afghanistan, Hawaii, Jamaica and Southeast Asia.

The variety won the first competition it entered, the 2004 Cannabis Cup, and won first place again in the Sativa category in 2012. During the 2000s it became a fixture in Amsterdam coffeeshops.

Soma has said that the name emerged naturally. In a world full of Haze, from Neville's Haze to Super Silver Haze, "Amnesia" fit perfectly with a smoke famous for making you forget what you were doing halfway through a task.

Lemon Skunk

Lemon Skunk was stabilized by DNA Genetics from two phenotypes of Skunk #1. The male was a highly valued Dutch Skunk for breeding, while the female was a cutting with a marked citrus profile selected in Las Vegas by a grower known as Lemon Man.

The line entered the High Times top 10 varieties in 2009 and won awards at Spannabis 2008 and the 2007 Highlife Cup. It's also one of the parents of Super Lemon Haze, which explains why it remains a reference in breeding citrus profiles.

Growing Amnesia Lemon

Indoors, Amnesia Lemon needs about 60 to 65 days of flowering, a short timeframe for a Haze hybrid. Yields of 500 to 550 g/m² can be achieved, and its moderate height makes it very suitable for cupboards and small rooms.

Outdoors, harvest arrives in October, usually during the first half of the month in the northern hemisphere. Each plant can yield between 600 and 750 g under good conditions, and its loaded side branches appreciate nets or stakes at the end of flowering.

It's considered an easy-to-grow variety that doesn't demand much feeding, ideal for inexperienced growers. In damp or rainy autumns it's worth ensuring good ventilation around the dense buds, and in cool climates an indoor or greenhouse grow offers more control.

Flavour, aroma and effect

The terpene profile is based on limonene and myrcene, which explains the bright opening citrus note and the softer, earthier base. On the palate fresh lemon dominates, followed by spicy, sweet touches and the earthy character of classic Skunk.

The bouquet gains complexity during curing. Some growers perceive spicy and earthy nuances during drying, while the lemon becomes more rounded and sweeter in the jar.

The effect starts with cerebral stimulation, a gentle euphoria and a burst of energy ideal for daytime plans. As it progresses it becomes more introspective and relaxed, without heaviness or couch-lock. With THC close to 21 or 22%, moderate consumption is advisable, especially for those not used to Haze effects.
