Genetics and Origin of ICE

Ice is born from a selected phenotype of a cross between Skunk Special and White Widow, later backcrossed and incorporating a touch of Blueberry to refine its flavor. The result is a hybrid with a markedly indica-dominant appearance and growth, but with a balanced effect between body and mind. After years of backcrossing, it's a stabilized variety in which up to three phenotypes can still be observed: one more elongated with a sativa tendency and two compact ones of indica type.

Indoor and Outdoor Cultivation

Indoors, Ice displays a short and robust structure, around 100 cm, although some growers take it up to a meter and a half, compact and with wide indica-style leaves. Its flowering is around 8 weeks, extendable to almost 10 if seeking to maximize resin, and responds very well to apical pinching to increase yield. Productions are around 400–450 g/m², with dense and extremely resinous buds. Some growers report certain sensitivity to powdery mildew, so it's advisable to maintain good ventilation.

Outdoors it adapts especially well to warm and Mediterranean climates, such as those in Spain or California, and stands out for its heat resistance. It can reach up to about 200 cm in height and harvest usually arrives in early to mid-October, with reported productions around 500–550 g per plant. Its overall difficulty is considered medium, suitable for both beginner and intermediate growers.

Aromas, Flavors and Effects

In aroma and flavor, Ice displays an intense profile of diesel, earthy and with a characteristic touch of licorice. Some growers find nuances of pine and a sweet and floral background, while on the palate that fuel and earthy character predominates with a very recognizable acidic or sour point.

Its effect is described as balanced, a marked and relaxing indica body, body stone type, combined with a more active and lucid cerebral high of sativa character. Depending on the phenotype and harvest time, it can lean towards something more sedating (with amber trichomes) or more euphoric and cerebral (with milky trichomes). It's a potent and long-lasting effect, for afternoon or evening use.
