Information
Athena IPW, previously known as IPM, is a foliar contact insecticide and pesticide, ideal for soft-bodied insects such as whitefly, aphids, thrips, and spider mites. It is also effective against fungi like powdery mildew and serves as a preventative treatment.
Since IPW contains no artificial pesticides or fungicides (made from raw materials grown in the US), it does not cause stress to plants, making it suitable for use from the seedling stage through to harvest.
It works by penetrating the crevices of stems and leaf surfaces, where most insects tend to colonise and where fungi and diseases thrive.
Dosage and Use:
For IPW to work as an insecticide, the recommended dosage is between 23 and 32 ml/L. It is important to spray with the lights off 3 or 4 hours before they are turned on. Athena advises 3 applications spaced 3 days apart. For preventative use, 13-15 ml/L applied 2 or 3 days a week will suffice.
Pests controlled by IPW:
- Red spider mite
- Red mite
- Thrips
- Mole crickets
- Mosquito larvae
- Aphids
- Whitefly
- Powdery mildew and other fungi
How to use Athena IPW:
- Always spray with indoor grow lights off. Spray both the underside and top of the leaves, starting with the substrate, then moving to the stem, and finally the leaves.
- Allow plants to dry for 3-4 hours before turning the grow lights back on. It is also important to turn off fans and air extraction systems at least 1 hour after applying the IPW.
- For preventative use (when no pests are present), apply during the vegetative period up to the 3rd week of flowering at a dosage of 15-24 ml/L, twice a week.
- Once pests are detected, use a dosage of 24-32 ml/L, applying 3 times per week during the vegetative stage up to the 3rd week of flowering.
- If the pest infestation is severe, apply 32 ml/L, spraying on 2 consecutive days, followed by a rest day, for a total of 9 days.
Ensure plants are well-nourished before using IPW, and maintain a temperature of approximately 22°C with 65% humidity to avoid fungus-related issues.
Note: Although labelled as a general plant cleaner, Athena IPW is highly effective at controlling whitefly, aphids, thrips, mites, and fungi.
