Information on KC 33
KC 33 Feminized is one of the classic genetics from K.C. Brains, the Dutch seed bank that developed it from its own line stabilized over years. It's a sativa-dominant hybrid with a marked citrus character, a THC content that can reach 20-22%, and a clear, energetic effect. It's ideal for growers seeking a sativa with traditional roots, designed for outdoor growing but also reliable indoors.
Genetics: a Dutch line with Thai and Brazilian blood
KC 33 originates from a Dutch variety cultivated and selected over years, which K.C. Brains crossed with Thai and Brazilian males. The seed bank doesn't detail the exact identity of the Dutch mother, but does make clear the weight of its tropical ancestors. Thailand and Brazil contribute much of the landrace character the plant retains. That's where its typical sativa behavior and notable adaptation to mild climates come from.
The result is a stable, sativa-dominant hybrid. The plants are tall and slender, with narrow light green leaves, and develop compact, thick buds. This is an unusual combination in sativas of this origin. This genetic stability is what allows the feminized version to perform well both outdoors and under lights.
In its vegetative phase it shows remarkable vigor from germination. It branches easily and tends to gain height rapidly, a trait worth considering when planning grow space.
Growing: vigorous, resistant and high-yielding outdoors
KC 33 was specifically developed for outdoor cultivation, and that's where it shows its full potential. Outdoors it can reach between 2.5 and 3.75 meters in height, and specimens approaching 4 meters are not uncommon. It yields up to around 900 g per plant. Harvest begins in late September and can extend throughout October, depending on latitude and seasonal conditions.
Like any good sativa, it appreciates a very sunny location. It needs somewhat more light than other varieties and takes its time to grow and mature. Regarding outdoor flowering duration, different figures are given, ranging from 8-10 weeks (between late September and early October). It's advisable to observe bud maturation rather than relying solely on the calendar.
One of its strong points is the hardiness inherited from its tropical ancestors. It's described as very resistant to fungi and pests and quite tolerant with watering. These are valuable qualities in areas with humid autumns or for those who can't monitor the crop daily.
Indoors the plant remains much more contained, with an average height around 100 cm. Flowering is short for a sativa: between 6 and 9 weeks. Indoor production reaches up to around 130 g per plant. Given its vigor and ease of branching, it's not recommended for SOG grows with many plants per square meter. However, it responds very well to a screen in SCROG cultivation, which allows spreading its branches and maximizing light use.
Flavor and effect: fresh lemon, sweet spices and a clear effect
KC 33's aromatic profile revolves around citrus. During flowering the plant releases a scent of fresh citrus accompanied by hints of sweet spices. This aroma intensifies as the buds form and fatten. The mature flowers are compact, aromatic and covered in sugar, with notable resin production.
The taste is dominated by fresh lemon, clean and direct, which reflects well what's perceived during cultivation. It's a simple and recognizable profile, very much in line with classic sativas with tropical roots.
The effect is described as clear and energetic, with an active cerebral component accompanied by a certain body sensation. Its cannabinoid profile combines high THC with low CBD content, which reinforces that clear and stimulating character. It's a suitable option for daytime or active moments. With THC that can reach 20-22%, it should be dosed carefully, especially if you're not accustomed to sativas of this level.
