Genetics and Origin of Power Plant

Dutch Passion developed this strain from a selection of landrace genetics from South Africa. According to the seed bank, the line has only been worked inbreed and through backcrossing, never hybridized with other strains, which explains its great stability and uniformity. The result is an almost entirely sativa plant (around 80% sativa), where that small indica component adds density to the bud and helps speed up flowering.

Indoor and Outdoor Growing

Indoors, it stands out for a medium-short flowering time for a sativa, around 8 to 9 weeks (with later phenotypes that can reach 10-11). It reaches between 75 and 125 cm, with a very pronounced stretch (200-300%), so it responds very well to techniques like SCROG and SOG. Yields range from 500-600 g/m² on average, and can go up to 600-750 g/m² in expert hands. It's an easy and forgiving grow, ideal for beginners.

Outdoors, it prefers a warm and dry climate, doing especially well in Mediterranean areas, and easily tolerates temperature and humidity fluctuations. Harvest comes around the second week of October, with very high productivity (XXL rating from the breeder) that can reach several kilograms per plant under optimal conditions.

Aromas, Flavors and Effects

On the nose, Power Plant displays a woody, spicy, earthy and floral profile, with notes of lilies and subtle hints of vanilla, within a penetrating and pungent aroma. On the palate it maintains that woody, spicy and pungent character, to which various sources add a fresh and smooth point with a sweet aftertaste. The smoke is described as very smooth.

Its effects are powerful and quick to set in, with the sativa signature up front: an euphoric, energizing, stimulating and creative onset, accompanied by increased appetite, which according to the breeder later evolves toward a more relaxed sensation. Because of that active character, sources associate it with daytime consumption, social moments and creative activities.
