Ulti-Mite Swriski is the new solution offered by Koppert, a product based on the predatory mite Amblyseius swirskii, a natural enemy of thrips and whiteflies.
This product has been awarded third prize at the Bernard Blum Award 2017. It manages to control the pests by releasing these predatory mites, which proliferate in the sachet. Over a period of several weeks, they disperse throughout the cultivation, eliminating their prey.
These beneficial agents are remarkably resistant and can survive by feeding on pollen or other prey at a temperature of between 20-32ºC. The sachet material makes the mites more resistant to drought and humidity, as well as it is a compostable package.
Each sachet contains 250 mites, so a minimum of 2 sachets per m2 is required for an insecticide action. The mites are released from the sachet over a period of several weeks.
