Now available at Alchimiaweb, the new magic mushroom variety from Iberian Mycology: Copelandia Hawaiian, also known as Blue Meanie or Panaeolus cyanescens. This variety belongs to a completely different family than Psilocybe cubensis and can produce up to 5 times more psilocybin.

Panaeolus cyanescens from Iberian Mycology: up to 5 times more potent than Psilocybe

Psilocybin is not a compound exclusive to the Psilocybe genus; in fact, there is a large number of species distributed throughout the world that produce this alkaloid in varying concentrations. Among them stands out the renowned Copelandia cyanescens, a variety that, although it requires more demanding cultivation than standard mushroom grow kits, offers a proportionally greater reward: fruiting bodies much more potent than any Psilocybe on the market.

The mushrooms produced by Copelandia Hawaiian are of fine and fragile build, with a low stature. They present a thin and short stem, crowned by a cap up to 3 cm in diameter.

Instructions for growing the Copelandia (Panaeolus cyanescens) mushroom kit

It is essential to maintain rigorous hygiene throughout the entire process. Before starting, you must wash and disinfect any work surface, put on disinfected gloves, and clean the exterior of the grow kit with alcohol, including the lid.

1. Spread the additional substrate over the mycelium, covering it evenly.
2. Once the substrate is distributed, gently spray the surface with bottled mineral water.
3. To prepare both the growing bag and the mini greenhouse with heating, add 2 cm of tap water along with a splash of hydrogen peroxide to the base.
4. Place the kit inside the bag, saving the lid for later.
5. Close the bag leaving 2-3 cm of the zipper open to allow gas exchange.
6. The temperature must be constantly maintained between 21 and 26°C, so using a thermohygrometer and a heating mat is recommended during the coldest months. Humidity should be maintained between 90% and 100%, spraying the inner walls of the bag 1 to 3 times a day.
7. To ensure proper fresh air exchange, open and briefly ventilate the bag every day using the kit's lid, thus avoiding CO₂ accumulation, which could prevent primordia formation. Once the first mushrooms appear, increase ventilation to twice a day.
8. The first primordia should appear between 5 and 10 days after establishing fruiting conditions.
9. When the mushrooms release spores or stop growing, it will be time to harvest, gently pulling them from the base of the stem with a clean movement.

How to perform the second harvest

1. After the first harvest, moisten the surface again by gently spraying, without soaking the substrate. Do not submerge the kit in water or place it in the refrigerator.
2. Continue maintaining high humidity by spraying 1 to 3 times a day, being careful not to impact directly on the primordia or developing fungi.
3. This kit can fruit continuously as long as it remains free from contamination, so it is essential to provide constant necessary care.
