Koppert Spidex is a predatory mite (Phytoseiulus Persimilis) of the red spider mite, Tetranychus Urticae. It helps to control this dreaded pest in any type of cultivation, it is also effective against Tetranychus spp but not for Tetranychus Evansi.
Phytoseiulus Persimilis (Spidex) is capable of devouring 5 spiders a day or 20 eggs. Preying on all stages of spider mites, Spidex, the predatory mite, bores into its prey the spider mite, and sucks it up, absorbing its contents.
how do you use Koppert's Spidex against spider mites?
Spidex can be used as a preventative, using about 10 units per plant. If there is an onset of infestation, apply about 50 units per plant.
In case of a severe infestation it is recommended to apply a chemical shock treatment (i.e. Double-Max Acaricide Insecticide) a few days before to reduce the infestation as much as possible before releasing Spidex. About 100 individuals per m2 of cultivation are recommended, repeating the application weekly up to a minimum of 3 applications.
To apply Spidex, the predators, it is necessary to first invert the contents of the container and shake it very gently (it contains live insects) before use. Then, to pop open the dosing hole, press the middle of the cap.
The contents can be gently applied to the leaves or placed in application boxes. Phytoseiulus Persimilis is effective at temperatures between 13-27°C. Above 30°C it is no longer effective. This mite is also very sensitive to humidity below 70%.
Apply Spidex as soon as the product is received, do not store for more than 2 days. It should be stored in the dark at 8-10°C with the container in a horizontal position.
