Information on White Widow
The White Widow is one of the most iconic varieties in cannabis history. Emerging in the 1980s, it has solidified its reputation thanks to a coating of trichomes that literally whitens the entire plant, a potency that leaves no one indifferent, and an ease of cultivation that makes it accessible to both novice and experienced growers.
To celebrate Alchimia's 25 years, Philosopher Seeds resurrects the White Widow in limited edition for the greatest pleasure of Old School variety lovers, who can thus rediscover the unique flavors of this variety, which was a true institution 25 years ago.
Genetics: the F1 cross that changed everything
White Widow is the result of the original F1 cross between a Brazilian landrace Sativa and a South Indian landrace Indica. The indica dominance provides bud density and extraordinary resin production —the very origin of its name—, while the sativa heritage imparts an energetic cerebral rush and a notably complex aromatic profile. Homogeneity between plants is one of its hallmarks: phenotyping is highly consistent from one grow to the next.
Cultivation: vigor, resilience and generous harvests
Indoors, White Widow Feminized develops a compact structure between 100 and 130 cm, with long lateral branches that make it especially suitable for SOG and SCROG techniques. Its flowering period ranges between 55 and 65 days, with yields reaching 550 g/m² under optimal conditions. Its vigorous growth, natural resistance to fungi, and undemanding character make it a very solid choice for those starting out in indoor cultivation.
Outdoors, the plant displays its full potential: it can reach between 180 and 240 cm in height, though in very favorable environments it exceeds 4 meters. Harvest occurs around mid-October, with productions that can approach 800 g per plant. It prefers temperate and warm climates, and adapts well to both greenhouse and guerrilla cultivation.
Aromas, flavors and effects
White Widow's aromatic profile is unmistakable: spicy, pungent and resinous, with a base of pine and old wood upon which citrus or fruity nuances emerge depending on the phenotype. The flavor follows the same sweet-and-sour, spicy line, with an intense and persistent aftertaste that settles on the palate. The dominant terpenes —myrcene, alpha-pinene and beta-caryophyllene— explain both the aromatic complexity and part of the effects profile that characterizes this variety.
The effect is potent and immediate. It begins with an energetic cerebral euphoria that can surprise those unaccustomed to high-THC varieties, progressing gradually toward a more enveloping physical relaxation. In moderate consumption it proves interesting for creative moments or stress relief; in higher doses, it leads to deep rest. Caution is recommended for users without prior experience with high-potency genetics.
