Stevia rebaudiana
Stevia is a shrubby plant about 80cm high. Its leaves are used as a natural sweetener. It is very suitable as a sugar substitute in weight loss diets and for people with diabetes.
Stevia is an annual plant, but if well sheltered in winter it can sprout again in spring. It can be cultivated in soil or in pots. It adapts well to poor soils. It does not tolerate excessive humidity. Sowing takes place from March to May.
