The history of Glookies

Glookies appeared in the late 2010s, right in the middle of the era of crosses between Glue genetics and Cookies lines with a sweet profile. Barney's Farm included it in its Cali Collection with the idea of offering a plant that would perform on the scale without losing character in the jar. Among growers, it also circulates under the nickname Gorilla Cookies.

The name is a simple fusion of Glue and Cookies, and the breeder has promoted it with a superhero theme, as if each seed came with its own cape. Since its release, other breeders have chosen it as a parent for new crosses, a sign of how well it transmits its traits.

Genetics and plant structure

Glookies relies on an approximate split of 70% indica and 30% sativa, with Gorilla Glue #4 on one side and the Thin Mint cut of Girl Scout Cookies on the other. The result is a medium-height plant with a bushy appearance, featuring abundant lateral branching. These branches load up with dense, resin-covered buds in deep green tones and, in some specimens, with purple hues.

Gorilla Glue #4 (GG4 / Original Glue)

GG4 was developed in Nevada by Joesy Whales and Lone Watty, from GG Strains, from a lineage involving Chem's Sister, Sour Dubb, and Chocolate Diesel. It was born by accident: a Chem's Sister turned hermaphrodite and pollinated a Sour Dubb, and the seeds that were about to end up in the trash produced several phenotypes, of which number four was the chosen one. In 2014, it won several awards at cannabis cups and went from an unknown cut to a reference in modern breeding.

The name Glue comes from its resin, so sticky it would clog trimming scissors. The company that makes the adhesive of the same name took the breeders to court, and a 2017 settlement forced a rebrand to GG4 or Original Glue.

Thin Mint Girl Scout Cookies

Thin Mint is a selected phenotype of Girl Scout Cookies, the hybrid of OG Kush and Durban Poison that emerged in the San Francisco Bay Area in the early 2010s through the Cookie Fam collective. Compared to other Cookies cuts, it stands out for its fresh notes of mint and cocoa over an earthy OG base. It also tends to pass on a compact bud structure and an abundant layer of trichomes.

The Cookies family has its own naming saga: to comply with regulations, Girl Scout Cookies is now marketed simply as GSC. Rapper Berner, linked to the Cookie Fam, helped take these genetics from local dispensaries to worldwide fame.

Growing Glookies indoors and outdoors

Indoors, Glookies usually stays around 100 cm in height, a size that fits in tents and rooms of very different dimensions. Flowering lasts about 60 to 70 days, and the breeder indicates yields of 700 to 800 g/m² when conditions are well adjusted.

Its branching pattern responds well to LST, SCROG, and selective pruning, which open up the canopy and bring more flowering sites closer to the light. It's considered a medium-difficulty plant that appreciates stable temperature and humidity, so regular checks against mold and pests are recommended.

Outdoors, the plant reaches around 180 cm and is ready during the first half of October in the northern hemisphere. A good season can yield over 1 kg per plant, and the breeder mentions figures of 2 to 3 kg in large specimens with space and a long summer.

On the palate, Glookies blends fuel notes like Sour Diesel, fresh lime, and nut, and some phenotypes add hints of tropical fruit or a cookie dough sweetness inherited from the Cookies side.

Potency sits in a high range: the breeder indicates up to 25% THC, while growers place it roughly between 20% and 27%, with very little CBD. The effect arrives quickly with a burst of mental energy and good mood, often with a giggly edge, before a sustained body relaxation takes over.
