This polyhybrid is born from the cross between Golden Tiger 2.0 (with Thai Koh Chang dominance) and Neville's A5 Haze (Northern Lights #5/Haze A). The incorporation of Thai Koh Chang genetics differentiates Colossus from other varieties in the Ace Seeds catalog like Killer A5 Haze, providing a more cerebral, stimulating and lemony character. Despite its genetic complexity, this variety shows remarkable consistency in quality and personality, presenting two clearly differentiated main phenotypes.

The most common phenotype flowers in 11-12 weeks with floral architecture featuring large dense colas, while the second requires 1-2 additional weeks and develops wilder and less compact floral structures, but maintains an almost pure sativa character.

Indoor cultivation of Colossus seeds

Indoors, Colossus demands a flowering period of 11 to 13 weeks and it's recommended to apply an 11/13 photoperiod (light/darkness) to accelerate flowering, avoid reflowering and control excessive stretching. Plants are vigorous, tall and robust, with strong lateral branching that can be contained by growers with experience in sativas. It requires correct and abundant feeding along with powerful light intensity to express its full potential. It's very suitable for SOG cultivation thanks to the large production in its main cola, and also for SCROG or horizontal growing due to its excellent production on side branches and its vigorous reaction to pruning. It's important to note that the main phenotype requires high levels of nutrients throughout development, while the secondary phenotype prefers moderate levels. Production is high when proper conditions are provided.

Outdoor cultivation of Colossus

Outdoors, this variety reaches its maximum splendor and shows its true productive potential. Maturation occurs in early November and is especially suitable for tropical or subtropical climates. It can also be grown with very good results in warm coastal climate with mild autumn, Mediterranean type, up to latitudes close to 43º. When planted in soil during spring, Colossus can easily produce 4x4 meter monsters with splendid yields.

Production is gigantic when grown correctly, amply rewarding the grower's effort and patience. It presents medium-high resistance to mites, medium-high to botrytis, medium-high to whitefly, medium-high to cold and medium-high to heat, plus medium resistance to powdery mildew, making it a robust option for outdoor cultivation.

Terpene analysis reveals very high beta myrcene content, high in limonene, moderate-low levels of linalool and beta pinene, smaller amounts of alpha pinene and trans ocimene, and among sesquiterpenes, moderate-high beta caryophyllene stands out, moderate alpha humulene and guaiol, with lesser amounts of alpha bisabolol.
