Alyssum maritimum
Sweet Violet Alyssum is an easy-to-grow perennial plant that grows to up to 25cm. From April to October it produces a large number of small, showy violet flowers that exude a pleasant aroma.
It is an ornamental plant widely used in gardening, especially in rockeries, borders and slopes. In the vegetable patch, as in the garden, it attracts and shelters beneficial insects such as bees and ladybirds.
Direct sowing in early spring, sheltered sowing can be done from September to November and transplanting from March to April. Plant in full sun, although it tolerates semi-shade. Withstands high temperatures and lack of water.
