Trinidad Scorpion, extremely hot chillies with the shape of a stinger

We present Trinidad Scorpion seeds by Rocalba, one of the hottest peppers in the world. It originates from the Trinidad Islands, and its origin and the fruit's shape, which resembles a scorpion's sting, give the name to this natural hot bomb.

Capsaicin, the chemical compound that makes its fruits spicy, is the reason for its popularity and consumption. From this strange human veneration for this pungent compound, powerful mutations such as the Trinidad Scorpion arise. It has a spiciness level of up to 2,009,000 SHU (Scoville Heat Units), placing it second only to the famous Carolina Reaper in the Guinness World Record rankings as of 2022.

Its use in baking is very limited due to its powerful spiciness, but the fruity taste initially noticeable allows it to be used to elaborate pungent sauces or to add to homemade hot oil.

Trinidad Scorpion hot pepper cultivation, quite easy and productive

Trinidad Scorpion cultivation is very similar to that of other hot peppers, where the most important factor is irrigation. Germination is recommended to be done indoors in late February/early March when the risks of the last frosts are over.

It is best to bring them outdoors gradually, at certain hours during the day to allow them to acclimatise. They are ready for transplanting when 4-6 nodes have developed and the outdoor temperature is no lower than 10ºC. It is ready to harvest when they turn from green to red, usually in late summer/early autumn.
