Snoop Dogg trolls Joe Biden with 'Sleepy Joe OG'

Cannabis brand mocks the president's lucidity

US rapper Snoop Dogg took Instagram by storm over the weekend by posting a photo of a weed strain dubbed 'Sleepy Joe OG', mocking President Joe Biden for his frequent mental lapses. The premium cannabis packaging features an image of Biden, along with the phrases "Where am I?" and "You won't even remember what country you are in!", accompanied by an inscription claiming that the weed is reportedly grown in Ukraine, Russia and China.

Snoop Dogg posted the photo on Sunday on his Instagram feed, which is followed by 74.6 million people, amassing more than 565,000 likes and nearly 10,000 comments at the time of writing. People had a lot of fun with the post, pouring in comments such as "If I smoke it do I get my vote back?" or "Don't ride a bike after drinking this," as another wrote in reference to Biden recently falling off a bike near his home in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware.

This isn't the first time Snoop Dogg has mocked Joe Biden on social media. Snoop, whose real name is Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr, has in the past been highly critical of Donald Trump and supported Hillary Clinton in 2016, but he has been having a lot of fun mocking Joe Biden as well. The 50-year-old rapper has posted viral videos of the president looking confused or losing his train of thought in the middle of a speech.

In another post, after Biden stumbled while climbing a flight of stairs on Air Force One in 2021, Snoop Dogg recommended he buy a motorised stairlift and reposted a video that was edited to show him riding up the plane's stairs on the back of the chair. "I bought mum one of these and now she's sliding her ass off, Joe," the rapper wrote in the post.

A fictitious brand inspired by real products

Although this is a full-blown prank, any resemblance to reality is not a coincidence, as the image of 'Sleepy Joe OG' posted by Snoop Dogg is not an actual cannabis strain, but just a zip-lock mylar bag in which smokers can store their flowers.

In fact, for those who want their own 'Sleepy Joe OG' mylar bag to carry their best cannabis buds, the product is available at several online shops. There is also a similar bag with a Donald Trump theme, showing the former president offering the crowd two fingers with the slogan "Fuck your feelings".

Cannabis growers can even buy seeds of an actual strain called Sleepy Joe, a hybrid of Obama Kush and THC Nova OG from Anesia Seeds. Or use the bag to carry a strain like Snoop Dogg OG, a 70% indica-dominant hybrid strain said to contain genetics from Lemon OG and Sour Diesel.

Because Snoop Dogg, apart from having his own weed brand since 2015 ('Leafs by Snoop') is also a co-founder of the venture capital group 'Casa Verde Capital' which funds cannabis-related start-up companies around the world. Who knows if, after the success of this prank, the rapper is thinking of investing in this type of meme-bags to fill them with his own genetics, something that, knowing how 'Tha Doggfather' is when it comes to pulling out his wallet, is not a far-fetched idea at all.
