Author Banks are the most personal face of the seed world. Behind each one is a breeder, or a small team, who grows, selects and crosses their own plants with patience and criteria, far from market pressures. In this section we bring together the craft cannabis breeders we value most at Alchimia: independent projects that prioritize quality, identity and honesty over volume.

What is an author bank?
An author seed bank is an independent project in which the breeder themselves controls the entire process, from selecting the parents to producing each batch. Unlike large commercial banks, which release dozens of varieties each season, artisanal banks work with short, curated catalogues. Each cross responds to a specific search, whether it's an aromatic profile, a structure, resin production or the preservation of a historic line, and is only put on sale when the breeder is satisfied with the result.
That's why their varieties have something difficult to imitate: their own character. They are author marijuana seeds in which you can recognize the hand of those who created them, with clear lineages and a philosophy behind them.

Why choose seeds from artisanal banks
Those who approach an author bank are usually looking for something they can't find in conventional catalogues. In this category you'll find:
- Exclusive genetics that are not commercially available, the result of years of selection and difficult to obtain in other stores.
- Intense and complex terpene profiles, because many of these breeders select based on aroma and flavor rather than yield.
- Transparent lineages, with clear information about the origin of each cross.
- Preservation of historical genetics, from traditional landraces to old school classics that are at risk of being lost.
- Genuine innovation, with modern crosses that set trends before reaching the major catalogs.
Regular and feminized seeds
Many boutique seed banks continue to champion regular seeds, the basic tool of any breeder. With them you'll obtain male and female plants, which allows you to do your own phenotype hunting, preserve a mother plant or pollinate to create your own crosses. If you prefer to simplify cultivation and ensure only females, you'll also find high-quality feminized seeds, produced with the same care in selection.
Limited runs
One of the hallmarks of artisanal seed banks is that they produce in small batches. Some varieties are reissued, others appear just once and never return. If a genetic catches your attention, the wisest thing is not to let it slip away, as these are often limited edition cannabis seeds. Collectors know this well: many of these seeds end up becoming true rarities.
The boutique seed banks in our catalog
Each artisanal seed bank has its own story and its own way of understanding genetics. These are the breeders that are currently part of our selection of boutique seed banks, grouped according to the field in which they excel most.
Guardians of landraces and classics
Ace Seeds. Spanish seed bank founded in 2005 and a global reference in the preservation of landraces and pure sativas from Africa, Asia, and America. Their work combines the conservation of native genetics with hybrids that respect their essence. Gems like Malawi, Malawi x PCK, Killer A5 Haze, or Morocco Beldia Kif are the best examples of their philosophy.
Old School Genetics. Barcelona-based project led by Oldman Green, a breeder with over two decades of experience. He keeps alive legendary lines from the late 90s and crosses them with modern American genetics, sometimes collaborating with other prestigious breeders. In their catalog you'll find Old Widow 90's, OSG Cheese, Oldman's Silver Haze 98, Black Cherries, or Old Gas Station.
Reggae Seeds. Born in Spain in 2006, they were one of the European pioneers in CBD-rich genetics, always faithful to their motto "grow your own medicine". Their flagship variety, Juanita la Lagrimosa, was among the first high-CBD strains on the continent. Their catalog also includes genetics like Dancehall, Respect, Blackdance, or CBD Republik II.
Resin, terpenes and contemporary genetics
Higher Heights Mendo. Independent project from Comptche, in Mendocino County, led by Nate, a grower and breeder with over 25 years of experience. They're committed to outdoor cultivation, long-term selection programs, and the preservation of traditional genetics from Northern California. Their Mendo Crumble has been awarded for its terpene content, and in their catalog you'll also find Roberts Creek Congo, Pineapple Mojito, or Star Apple.
Bask Triangle Farms. A collective founded in 2017 in the Basque Country with an unequivocal mission: Breed for Terps. They work with organic cultivation, focus on regular seeds, and select plants with high trichome production, highly valued for solventless extractions. They have accumulated dozens of awards at competitions such as the Spannabis Champions Cup and the ICMAG 420 Cup. Laranjazz, Izozki Boom, Banana Pil Pil, Zitala, and Super 99 are some of their creations.
Mamiko Seeds. A Spanish seed bank founded in 2012, famous for GMO Cookies and their work with the Girl Scout Cookies Forum line, which they were among the first to offer in seed form in Europe. They specialize in Cookies genetics with high resin production, ideal for extractions. In addition to Forum Cookies, their catalog features Cheese Cookies, Punch & Cookies, and Mimosa Cookies.
Puppets Genetics. Behind this seed bank is Eduardo Vidal, a figure closely linked to the Barcelona cannabis association scene. Their proposal focuses on modern American-style hybrids, with intense aromas and abundant resin, designed for both indoor and outdoor cultivation. Among their varieties are Rainbow Tangie S1, GWG (Go With Grandma), and Sugar Lime.
Rarities for Collectors
TerpyZ Mutant Genetics. European breeders specializing in unique mutant leaf morphologies, such as Ducksfoot (webbed leaf), ABC (Australian Bastard Cannabis), or fern-type. Their work seeks, selects, and preserves singular phenotypes that you'll hardly find anywhere else, designed for collectors and growers eager to experiment. Take a look at Pink Nova Duck, Frisian Rebel ABC, ChemDuck F2, or Feral Fuel.
Alchimia's commitment to independent breeders
At Alchimia we believe that the future of cannabis depends on protecting its genetic diversity, and boutique seed banks are an essential part of that work. That's why we carefully select the breeders we incorporate into our catalogue and support projects with a solid track record and their own vision. Buying their seeds is also a way of supporting the independent and artisanal work that keeps cannabis culture alive.
