Ciskei is one of ten independent regions of South Africa declared autonomous territory from 1981 to 1994, and in this place the population grows in a significantly way a little sativa in the mountains of the Drakensberg area, at an altitude of 1500-2000 meters.
Some seeds of this landrace cannabis genetics were imported by a Swiss company to be selected and reproduced before the Seed Bank ended its activity in the 90s, after a change in the laws that prevent them from working in that sector. The great selection work done by this Seedank allowed to remove the hermaphrodism of the line and get a great stability in the offspring.
The Tropical Seeds Company team was overjoyed when 15 years later, a friend and trader of cannabis seeds offered them 40 Chiskei seeds. The biggest surprise was that, despite the low germination chance, in 2004 during the first test with a lot of that seeds, 12 germinated perfectly showing great vigor thanks to a treatment with gibberellic acid .There were used 2 male plants and 2 female plants for reproduction to increase the inbreeding within the population. The two selected female plants were very similar, only a slight difference was detected in what refers smell and performance.
Ciskei provides homogeneous plants with a symmetric Indica size and structure which will develop strongly its ramifications if given sufficient growth period. With a reasonable size for a Sativa, and a fast flowering time (50-55 days) this strain is a plant well adapted to the growing of cannabis in growing boxes, but which will also withstand outdoor conditions.
During flowering the buds will quickly become compact and present few leaves, which will ease the trim, and release a strong smell of ripe fruit. The effect is typical of Cannabis Sativa genetics, energetic and stimulating.
